Nothing funny about someone getting robbed to me. Will be be so funny when it is you? It's funny because she deserved it for being a complete bitch. Playing that damn system at all hours of the day. I kind of agree that playing a loud system in your driveway for days and days, hours and hours, your asking to get it stolen. I've played my shit in my driveway right after install, just trying to get it sounding right, never for more than a half hour though. I think its going a little far to say she deserved it though. Thats almost like saying that since you played your system in someones neighborhood at night, and they got pissed and followed you home and stole it that you deserved it... You'd be surprised what people would do to the bassheads haha. I have rules when it comes to bass, all keep my equipment from getting stolen and from people from getting mad at me. Simply put if you keep to yourself, don't be ignorant, and aren't a complete douche, no one will try to steal your equipment for revenge. I'm sure I wouldn't be surprised. Desperate stupid people do desperate stupid things. When I lived with my parents someone robbed their cars and a bunch of other ones in the neighborhood, and there wasn't even anything valuable in them. A few months later they caught the people that did it, but not many people if any got their stuff back. I try not to be stupid with my stuff, but I'm not going to limit my bumping to highway/freeway only. I bump in town, and I'm not too worried about my stuff getting stolen. I usually take a few measures to try to prevent it, like parking so that my hatch can't be opened. I doubt that a lot of people are targeted just because they have a loud system, unless they live in a bad neighborhood/big city. I know stuff like that happens there. When me and some buddies had an apartment in Nashville, one of my roomates had his Civic broken into and his subs stolen, and it wasn't even that late at night when it happened. He would bump it when he was coming into the parking lot though. Being very close to metro Nashville didn't help any either I'm sure. I think its a lot less risky having a system in a smaller town like I'm in now.

I kind of asked about this in my thread about my box, but didn't get any replies, so I figured I'd start a new thread. I know that using bus bars works. I'm mainly planning on doing it since I'm running 1/0 and I need something smaller for my amps, and there aren't a ton of distribution blocks that will work for that, and the bars will be cheaper, free really... I've got an old 300 amp panel in my barn that I got off a job a couple years ago. I'm planning to hack out the bus bars from it, run my 1/0 from batteries to it, and tie my amps into it also. I might plasti-dip the positive to prevent arcing. I'm also thinking about mounting them to my box. Opinions or recommendations?

  4. I'm a fan of RF, if money isn't a problem, as you say, then I would go with the T2500, two of them BDsynced. Get another BTL while your at it.
  5. Anyone have experience with the coaxials? I may get the 5x7s for some rear fill. Would save having to fiberglass or make an adapter in the back, and be a lot easier, since in my Explorer Sport, the plastic around the rear speakers is one huge ass piece.

And why did your user name change three times since you've posted?

yea i know its alot of money but its going to be a project so it doesn't matter ill save up till i have the money. Oh yea and in my nabor hood u steal something your going to get shot lol Usually its those kinds of neighborhoods where stuff is getting stolen... I think I'd just leave the bass for the highway or when your away from home...
  8. I definitely don't mind an hour or so, I just don't want to have to go to Nashville or Memphis, which would turn into an eight or ten hour round trip. Tennessee is a long ass state, haha. If I could find something in Knoxville, Johnson City, Bristol, Chattanooga, or somewhere reasonably close I'd go.
  9. Anyone know if there are any comps around the Knoxville/ East Tennessee area? I've never heard of any, but would love to attend one.
  10. There is another piece of 3/4 going over it so the plexi will sit flush.
  11. Man, I'm so glad you pointed that out. I've looked at that drawing a hundred times, and thought the measurements behind the port were just for alignment. Obviously I'm a dumbass. Thanks for the help man.

Thats what I'm using for my BTL 18. I would loooove to have a T2500, but I don't have the cash right now. In the future I'd like to have two T2500s in BD sync hooked to a couple of AA SMDs with a T1000-4 on mids. Hey, I can dream, right? Edit: WTF is this doing in the Sundown forum?
  13. As I said before, I'm using the XXX 6.5 components. I'm thinking about getting some Selenium ST-350 tweeters, anyone have any experience with them? I'd like to have some loud highs cause I know the bass from the BTL will probably overpower my components.
  14. Something else, I can't find any distribution blocks I like for a reasonable price. I think I'm going to go with short pieces of bus bar. Maybe dip the positive side with plasti-dip. I'll also eventually be glassing my RE XXX 6.5s into my door panels. I think I'll make some temporary boxes out of the scrap MDF I've got and put them in the back seat area until I get time to do the door panels. Opinions and suggestions are valued. Edit: One set of the terminals is for some LEDs. I got some super bright 3 watt LEDs, the ones used in the T15K Escalade build, so it should be pretty bright. I got banna plugs for the sub so you couldn't get them mixed up and fry the lights.
  15. This is the optimal design for the X Con 18. My BTL 18 is going to be going into it. I got the design from the site here, thanks SSA! I've still got a lot of sanding to do. I did all of this last weekend. I'll be finishing it up this weekend. I've still got a lot of wiring to do. I've got a 270 amp Mechman alternator to put in. I've got 50 foot of 1/0, which I'm hoping will be enough. I think I'm going to use my starting battery I've got, a Napa 70 series or something, I'll have to look at the specs and post if anyones interested. I've got a big Wal-Mart brand battery with dual terminals I'm going to put in the back. I'll probably eventually get some better batteries once I get some more money, but for the power I'm running I think I'll be fine. I got 9x18 pieces of plexi, but I think I should have gone bigger, because I had them drilled, and the place didn't want to go any closer to the corners than 2" for fear of it cracking, so that cuts down on the viewable area a lot. I also put some liquid nail around it to try and seal it good. My dad helped out with it, and I used his tools, so shout out to him, thanks dad! haha On future builds I think the only things I'll do differently is to maybe use a skill saw to get the pieces that go around the plexi smoother. May still change that since it isn't painted yet. I've got this textured spray paint I'm going to use, its supposed to look like stone, thought it would match my interior pretty good.
  16. Hell yeah man, thats great. If your friend does get it, just tell him you lost the cover, haha.
  17. got any for 2/0? lol 124108-001 - 124108-001 Which is exactly what these are for. Should have looked at the link first, haha.
  18. got any for 2/0? lol They make all kinds of disconnects like that. I'm thinking about the ones for the electric tow motors at work, it looks like what john posted. Those tow motors have like 18 or 20 12 volt batteries. They plug into a charger, that has 2/0 or bigger cable. I would try to find something like that.
  19. EXACTLY like that. I'm pretty sure they are interchangeable. I just need the bottom one though. And to Brandon, I'm sure it didn't sell for that...
  20. LOL, you mean you blew your speaker because your a dumbass? Don't feel bad man, it can happen to anyone that jumps into something without doing their homework.
  21. Agreed. I've had a similar problem, I don't think it was an Alpine HU though. I messed with it forever before I read the manual and figured it out.
  22. I got my grandma a 15" Dell with I think a 2.2ghz processor, 500 gig HD, 4 gigs RAM, and Windows 7 for $549 at Walmart. It was a little over $600 after tax. I thought it was pretty nice though. It doesn't compare to my new laptop though. Mines about 5 months old. Dell 17" 2.66 ghz dual core processor, 4 gigs ram, 320 gig HD (fixing to upgrade to dual 600 gigs), bluetooth, etc. I gave $1200 for mine, but I think its worth it.
  23. I've got a P3002 that was missing the chrome cover when I bought it. I've searched all over, RFs site, watched ebay for about a month and never seen one. Anyone know where I could find one, or maybe point me in the right direction? Obviously its just cosmetic, but I'm in the process of a major rebuild, and am going to have my amps showcased, so it would be nice to have the chrome cover for it. Thanks for the help.
  24. Miller, If I use the HU for my settings what should I set the amp settings too or does it matter??? Yes, you've got to set the amp too. Be careful with the gain.
