  1. Btw although a qtc of 0.707 is ideal you can and sometimes it might be better to use a different value.
  2. If you have winisd plot a few different qtc values and notice how the f3 point changes and frequency roll off is altered. You will also notice a peak in the f3 freq that will make the system sound boomy. Power handling will also be affected.
  3. What would the benefit be of using nuts in place of a shorting ring? Or is the spacer between the motor and basket not a shorting ring? I have read and seen two different methods of using a shorting ring. One is a spacer (SA style), that I mentioned, the other is a ring that is part of the motor (Z style).
  4. Nice to see you on this forum skillz!
  5. The sa-8 is going to sound nice on that vehicle
  6. Thanks again for the compliment man. I hope this puts up better numbers than last year. Side note- it's nearly impossible to get spray glue or paint to stick in heavy humidity! Not impossible it just takes more time. Spray single pass thin coats and allow to dry between coats. If you have access to a heat lamp then that will speed the drying time. Your design is kinda like a hatchback crx style in a truck lol I dig it
  7. Sorry to hear about your alternator chit with mechman. Stuff like that is frustrating!! Box looks unique man. Good job on fabbing up something custom!
  8. The power of water is phenomenal. Thanks for posting.
  9. Woot woot. Is your wire on the website?
  10. Sure.. Here are a couple tips. Depending on the amplifier you are using it could have a regulated or unregulated power supply. If your setup is used with the vehicle on you want to set your gain with the vehicle on. You could see a difference in ouput from 12v to 14v (vehicle off, vehicle on). Set your gain over the range of frequencies the amplifier will be used at. For instance, my lpf is set at 60hz my ssf is set at 25hz. It tested the amplifiers output from 25-60hz tones in 5hz increments. If you see noticable fluctations examine why. I noticed that my ouput (measured in ac volts) decreased at 32hz and below even though my ssf was set at 25hz. It appeared that the ssf was affecting frequencies slightly above 25hz. I just used my 30 band eq to boost 32hz for even ouput from 32-60hz. Check to make sure you do have reduced ouput at your ssf and frequencies below your enclosure tuning freq. This is rather easy to do. Good luck!
  11. I use XS Power batteries. Imo they are the best in the business. Your stock battery is probably fairly large. You should be fine by replacing it with a similiar group number XS Power battery. Contact Nathan at XS Power he wil help you with selecting a factory replacement. And if you haven't the "big 3" is beneficial.
  12. Select a range with a maximum greater than you expect the reading to be, 200V.
  13. Just wondering, what makes yellow glue better? I always used Titebond II as well. Yellow glue is a pva (polyvinyl acetate) wood glue. Tirbond II is a water resistant pva glue. Better yet get a polyurethane glue like Gorilla Glue.
  14. No typo, you just do not understand what he is doing. Check out the pinned amplifier gain setting thread.
  15. Yes that volt meter will be fine. Set it to "ac volts".
  16. Got any pics of this bad boy?
  17. You shouldn't base your sub selection on somebody else's videos So many variables will be different in your setup than mine. If all you want is a system to do hair tricks then xcon's are more money than what you need to spend. The SA series from Sundown is a proven ground pounder and cost approx half of what xcon's do. Two sa-12's, 3k and an 8" port should be a good start Two sa-12's on 3000 watts tuned low? I can see the "what happened to my subs" thread already.... Don't let the wrms rating fool you. Do some research on other's setups. It is all about proper install.
  18. Talk all the shit you want. ZCON is too late. I just dropped +$700 on subs this past Friday. WHATCHA GET?????? Please tell. I do not want to hijack this thread. Check out my build log in a week or so. I read duran's enclosure designs are top notch maybe he will help me haha

  20. Mine should be shipping on Friday These subs are beasts and pretty underrated no doubt we should be very happy.! Especially for the price we paid for them Thanks again!

  22. Hmm don't you already have that thread started?
  23. Door pods are looking good!
  24. Low frequency extension has a large part to do with your enclosure. Stay away from spl based subwoofers because they generally are built to peak high.
