  1. I used expanding foam in a can to seal off my trunk. I used it around my subwoofer enclosure and in a metal cavity between the rear seats and trunk. I let it dry for over 16 hours. This morning on my way to work I was listening to my audio system for the first time since sealing off my trunk with expanding foam. The difference in sound volume and quality is extremely noticable. After I arrived at work I went to put my rear seats back up and I noticed un-dried expanding foam had seeped out of a metal cavity and dripped on my XCON's cone. I really expected all of the foam to be dy after +16 hours. How should I clean/remove the expanding foam from the XCON cone? I read that acetone is best for expanding foam removal but is acetone safe on a XCON cone?
  2. I definitely recommend two 12" over one 15". You will have more cone area and pretty much the same same enclosure.
  3. big block 550, making around 700~ hp at the crank the only down side is it is about 4000lb's! lol good Ol solid steel lol! although if you know your coupes on this one I dropped the roof about 6inch! which I think makes it look more bad-ass lol! That's sounds great. Nothing compares to a BB. -186mph on my ZX10r
  4. The second one is a rear horn design.
  5. The first enclosure is an ABC enclosure
  6. Sounds like DC Power Let's see a build log!
  7. Now get working on the 12" Z v.3!!!!!!
  8. Thanks! Since this is being done on the cheap I didn't want to get distro-blocks. I saw a link from here on the forum and may try these on my next build. I used a piece of scrap 3/8" alum bar I had laying around. I cleaned it up a little, dilled and tapped a few holes and used an electric protectant to decrease alum to copper corrosion and eliminate alum oxidation. You probably have similiar materials laying around your garage to make your own distribution blocks for free
  9. Looking great sefugi! Sundown ftw!!! I think I am going to patiently wait for the Sundown Z v.3 to go into production then I will have Sundown goodness as well
  10. Woohoo! I am jealous!
  11. Enough talk and more pics! Let me guess 48 sa10? Lol
  12. You are very passionate about your audio hobby All you need now is some rotary woofers
  13. Are you adding a secondary battery under the hood? There are more cons than pros to doing that. I would not add a secondary battery under the hood for car audio use.
  14. Do you have any good stories or pictures?
  15. I have a Kenwod KDC-x994. I do not recommend it. There are many known issues with it that have been discussed on diyma. Right now you can get good deals on leftover 2010 models. Shop around!
  16. Thank you. I wanted to buy The Loudspeaker Design Cook Book two weekends ago but I didn't. I will read it ASAP.
  17. Thank you for your input. My current enclosure is 4^3 net, I kinda expect an enclosure for 2 12"s to be the same. BUT! This time I am going to build the enclosure to "fit" my vehicle rather than a rectangular box. This way I will have more cargo room because the enclosure will appear smaller. I will build the enclosure in the trunk if needed. Thans again, and M5
  18. Ugh that's what I thought you would say I was hoping to hear something like "a low fs, high bl, qts between .35&.45, vas smaller than vb....". I am very pleased with the XCON. Actually if my new substage "sounded" the same but was louder that would be a win/win. By redesigning the substage and using the available power that I have I would be disappointed if it wasn't louder too. So if t/s parameters are not the measurements that are used when selecting substage drivers than what is?
  19. I currently own an XCON 15 in 4^3 net. The enclosure was not built to fit the vehicle and maximize cargo area. I want to build a new enclosure to maximize cargo area. I have a dedicated +3000wrms substage amplifier. Since I am building a new subwoofer enclosure I decided to also upgrade subwoofer drivers to use the available power that I have. I am trying to understand subwoofer parameters better so I do not make more mistakes with driver and enclosure selection. I decided to go with 2 12" subwoofers which will maximize cone area for my application (trunk enclosure, forward firing subwoofers). I choose a vented enclosure for the nice gain in efficency. I am seeking subwoofer system that had high output capabilities based on my "requirments", ie. box size, 3500wrms SSA drivers are great but I want to make sure that I make the correct driver purchase so I do not have to do this again anytime soon. I hope I am making sense
  20. Any seasoned enclosure builders that can help me out with this?
  21. You can make your own aeroport if you need to out of pvc. It takes some practice. There are a couple of ways you can do it. Either use a heat gun or a pan of hot oil to heat the end. Then press the heated pvc end onto a mold to flare it such as a bowl. You can flare it as much as you want if you are careful. Or buy them from parts-express and join the lengths together where needed. There are numerous glues and epoxies that would work. Good luck.
  22. It would be cool to let your son do the install for you
  23. You learned a FEW things? The only thing I learned was how to straight up bash a product without it being on the market yet and knowing nothing about it... Give it a few months for accredited reviewers to get their hands on it. This could be an easy tool for many car audio enthusiasts to use if it works as intended.
