  1. You said you have a Z415 on order. Only one? What are your goals for the front stage?
  2. The Diehard gold in there is really old, but I am waiting to buy the 2 diehard platinums I'm planning on using a little later. I doubt It's working very hard, I'm barely pulling amps off of my system atm. Doesn't matter what you are equipment you are running. If your battery is shot it will kill your alt given enough time.
  3. You should get your battery load tested. A dead or low voltage battery will cause your alt to work 100% which will certainly get it hot as hell.
  4. Give us your setup information and your review of the Q's
  5. No truck here
  6. I know that the horns have a two bolt pattern and that the Dayton's are both 2 or 3 bolt. I have two sets of horns and researched the Dayton's. I asked onebadmonte specifically to see if he had any issues with mounting since I have not tried any other drivers other than the ESAudio Ultra's. jay-cee, which compression drivers have you mounted on a ESAudio horn?
  7. How did you mount the Dayton driver to the horn?
  8. You can always ship your acquisition hardware/software to me to borrow I do not know why the phase plot did not show up on my saved soundcard calibration graph (it looked normal according to an example). It was there when I did the calibration. I am using a laptop with a schlocky soundcard. I do not understand why nonlinear phase delay would be an issue since the reputability of the setup is 100%. The real issue IMO is have the time card synchronized to the output and input. I have not been able to find a method that allows me to do this. The soundcard delay is consistent so I wasn't concerned. So.... I have t/a adjusted using PC. As I noted earlier the sound stage is much better. Stage width has improved slightly. On tracks that have depth ques that are far off center the newly added width has definitely helped. I still feel that there is room for improvement. What do you suggest?
  9. Alright now I am on my laptop.... All of the installs look great, hands-down. Although a majority of the sedan installs look the same, especially in the trunk. IB mounted subwoofers, amps in the spare tire well, nothing unique. Hopefully next weekend the judges see my install and see the "uniqueness" that most sedans do not have
  10. Wow, heavy hitters!! I would have definitely asked for a demo by Mark and Buzzman!!! The Ralliart with the AE's won World SQ is his class.
  11. That is what I do for for the soundcard calibration sequence. Here is the graph after calibration. Does this answer your question?
  12. The repeatability of the setup was 100%. What do you mean by "What does it look like electrically without the mic?"?
  13. I should have mentioned that right channel smearing is gone and tweeter simblance is no longer an issue. I previously set levels using my ears. Before adjusting t/a I used an SPL meter and found that the right channel mid was very hot. I also slightly dropped down 5-10khz on the eq and that helped the sibilance issue.
  14. I started the testing with t/a set by distance measurement. Here are some impulse graphs that I aligned as close as I could to adjust t/a settings. I used the driver's side tweeter (red graph) as the reference point. I aligned the slope of the first impulse peak not the top of the peak. I read this is the correct method. Pleas let me know if this looks correct. Left/right tweeters (5-5.1khz) Left/right midrange aligned to right tweeter (3-3.1khz) Left/right midbass aligned to right tweeter (2-2.1khz) Quick listening test showed the center image was more in the center of the dash and the speakers are more transparent. Most adjustments were not too far off from my initial settings. The midbass drivers required the most adjustment.
  15. Is this part of the JF line?
  16. What do you think of the new compression drivers? What is your high pass setting for those?
  17. Sorry to hear bro. May her legacy live through you!
  18. I can definitely tell that you went the extra step to make this install look and perform real good. You have some unique touches on this install. Good job man.
  19. I think you might of started another thread similar to this in the past. I posted my technique there but didn't get a response from you. I mounted an idler pulley on one of the alternator mounting bolts. After a little bit of research on the Dayco website I matched up an idler pulley that had the correct id size for the bolt and overall od and width for my belt and mounting requirements. Easy.
  20. No question. Just posting for anybody interested.
  21. I posted this on another forum and I would like to hear the thoughts from the gurus on here as well I have been ready through pages and pages of threads on adding rear fill to help maximize the front stage. After understanding how rear fill is used for this application many folks (including myself) have been thinking how to acquire the necessary L-R. On a side not L-R seems to be the most common method although there appears to be other methods for generating a rear fill signal which require a fancy processor. The MiniDSP 2x4 has a plug-in Rear/Center Channel. This plug-in gives you the generated L-R signal, xover, 31 band eq, and up to 27ms of delay. You can also easily reverse phase on one of the output channels which seems to be common practice for rear fill. You will need one MiniDSP 2x4 to run this plug-in. Unfortunately you can not run multiple plug-ins on a single unit. I wish we could run multiple plug-ins on one MiniDSP. It would be nice to use a 2x8 for your entire system with two output channels for the rear fill plug-in and the other channels with a 3 or 4 way plug-in. Please comment with your thoughts on this!
  22. Add an idler pulley man. It should have been there to begin with.
  23. No progress on measurements yet. Tascam should be here next week. I did treat the pilllars will cld and it worked well. Playing a 150hz test tone there is no panel resonance that I can hear. Drastic differnece than untreated.
  24. I did not take an impulse measurement. I was unable to create loopback with my laptop. I originally planned on using my desktop but I was having hardware issues with it as well. When Tascam US-122 arrives I should be golden.
