With that being said I would buy the cheapest amp I could find that fits my install requirements.

Why arent you getting the M4a? I know nothing about the M4a. The M3a has an overbuilt power supply. This is suppose to make the amp undistructable when runningat low voltage. If the M4a is designed similar to the M3a, which I think it would, I would go with that. High price comes with that quality though. This is only my personal opinion(amps) DD>Sundown>DC Sundown is working on revised and new amps. I can't wait to see whats coming!

2009 Malibu Build (2 B2 Audio CC 12")
I had my DC 2.0K installed for two days before it went poof. I had it mounted on the backside of my enclsoure and evidently DC's do not tlike that. I know that the Sundown amps are designed to be resistant to vibrations. So if you are mounting on the backside of your box the Sundown maybe the better choice. I do believe that the DC's are cheaper, possibly in build quality too. But I love the DC's heatsink. I guess it comes down to two factors: price and mounting location.

Which solder to get?
I use a heavy large diameter silver solder for copper lugs. You will need to prep the lugs first with steel wool, then clean. Next, coat the id of the lug with flux. A flux brush or toothbrush is good for that. You can not usea solder pen or gun for this. You need a torch. I use smaller rosin core solder for finer work such as circuit boards. For that example a solder pen is best.

I hope so. It should be pretty simple to make. I plan on carving the shape I want out of floral foam them covering it in carpet. So many options in this case. Something I could consider "therapeutic" when making, verse getting burnt out making door pods, etc. Too bad PA is a bit far from me. I started fabbing the trim piece. Isnt quite as simple as I thought. Going to need a little bondo on this one. Like you said, lots of options. I am might cover it in vinyl instead of carpet. You could always fly up here and help me

Both amps are going under the seats. Still have a 'lil trunk space left. Mostly pissed that I wasn't able to fit my spare tire Thanks bro Under your seats? I don't see that?!?!?! No on sits in the back seat??? Under the front seats. I will be making a false floor for rear seat passenger's feet. I have another D3400 that will be mounted in the trunk.

18" in an Escape build
Your current install looks great. Why aren't you going with Sundown subs for this install?

A couple helpful fellas on another forum pionted out that my port opening was too close to the bottom wall I had 3" of clearance. So, to my dismay I took the enclosure apart and squeezed another 1" of clearance for a total of 4". Not too sure it will help any but hopefully it is good enough for my goals. After more research and better judgement, I decided that an aero end was necessary on both ends of the port. Test fitting the flared aero on the rear deck. After literally hours of test fitting, trimming and test fitting, I finally have the rear deck cover modded for the port. I will be making a trim piece out of floral foam and carpet to make it look better. I received my alt back from Excessive Amperage. For no charge he modified the alt for an external regulator and supplied the regulator! Got my DD M3a
