Aeroport or slot port
I would go with the slot port if there is enough space, reason being is that slot port is more flexible to acheive desired port area.

Recone Icon 12 to Xcon 12?
An icon 15 would fit on that 16" height, the OD would be about flush with 16" and the cut out diameter will clear the top and bottom pannel inside, when using a single pannel with 16" height as the front face.

Fosgate t1500-1bdcp question
If the hu lpf filter can be defeated then set it to off and use the lpf on them amp, If it can not be defeated then set it to 120 hz (or a value in close approximation that the hu has), then set your lpf on the amp a tad higher, dont set both filters at the same value. And yes you can have your sub playing up to 120 Hz even higher, once it sounds good to you.

Aero port questions
I am not sure of the ratio of port area of slot to aero (or round), but I am certain its not half..lol.. Rule of thumb for slot ports is 12 to 16 in sq per cuft. And if I can remember correctly for round ports it's 9 to 12 in sq per cu ft. Maybe some one can chime in on that.

Aero port questions
if you are using a 6" dia. aero port then calculate the port area based on 6" diameter. For the length use this calculator http://www.psp-inc.com/tools.html the total length of the entire port would be the "flare length port required".
