I didn't expect that. I was thinking if I had a single 18 at 1000w then got a new amp that was 2000w there were be very little audible difference. But using 1000w then doubled cone area it would have much greater return. The problem with bitch power is my alternator. The stock is 80a and mine is "upgraded" to 100a. Noone makes an upgrade for me. Mike Singer came out to look at it and said yeah not going to happen. The only thing I can do is full custom. I had thought about wiring down but .35 dcr kinda scares me. Future plans was maybe find another 2000 and strap them. Being they are discontinued that isn't easy. Atleast for a good deal. That won't happen until I come up with an alternator though.

I've talked to several people and all seem to have a different opinion so I thought I'd get some feedback here. Currently have 1 Q18 Dual 2 ohm wired to .7 DCR on a Sundown SAZ 2000 Enclosure is 8 cf3 tuned to 29hz Been thinking about maybe picking up a second Q. I really like how it sounds but thinking about maybe going bigger and the black friday sale and my bday coming up I've been thinking about it more. I have the space to build for 2, although it would be a little more tricky since I'd have to build around the wheel wells. It's doable though. My concerns are if I get a 2nd Q I would have more cone area but running a higher DCR of 1.4 will more than likely cut down my amp output. By no means do I have the amp maxed out, I still have some headroom but not sure how doubling the DCR will effect output. I would think that even if I lost power output it wouldn't be that noticeable and would be more than made up for by cone area. But have never tried this before and would like some ideas. Yes I know I could just buy a bigger amp. Yes I know I could buy a recone for my current Q. But don't want to go down that road. Thanks for any input.

Nice job on the wiring. It's not easy to make that many cables look clean. Do you have any suspension upgrades for the rear? That's a lot of weight in batteries for sure.

For that kind of money I would go for SSA Zcon or Fi SP4. Score is going to depend on a lot of variables including design and install.

Yeah I like several types of music. Although ZB isn't very exciting to watch. Well like any of my videos keep you on the edge of your seat lol. I'm hoping over time it will show my progression of different setups. Here is the first vid.

Michael and I just got back from moms house. Hope everyone had a good thanksgiving! Was really nice to have a few days off. Made a new video in the daylight. It's nice to live out in no man's land sometimes. Also gave mom a demo since she hasn't heard the new amp and sub. She was really impressed with the sound quality. Of course it was some Zach Brown band with the amp gained down. I let her listen to some decaf on about 60% and she said her teeth were rattling lol. My first vid is rendering now. HD takes a while. Swift gave me a demo of his SP4s when he had 2 of them. I asked him his thoughts on the SP4 vs the Q and he said the SP4 have the same sound quality but louder. I was impressed with them overall and owning Qs myself I believe his assessment is pretty accurate.

Do computers have feelings? Do they or do they not? Icon sounds like a good choice. Be sure if you design the enclosure to not skimp on port area. Also besides techmaster I loved to listen to dynamix II

Congrats on the score and trophies! I don't know why M5 would be disgusted. He helped design the supertweeter. He wanted a tweeter that mated perfect to a 10" mid. I also believe his rule of thumb is 2 to 1 ratio. So if you plan on 2 mids per door that would equate to 4 supertweeters. You can do a 1 to 1 but that wouldnt be a true sq setup. That would be more of a ""SQL"". Which is a phrase he coined as well I believe.

Every one of these posts are answered with a BL. Why no love for the Q? Most of the answers are "if you have to ask get the BL." Why? Do you think the Q was a poor design? Not reliable? Only intended for special installs? I know the xcon is not the same driver and I'm not implying that but aren't they designed with a similar premise? I don't see any threads saying if you have to ask get a zcon.

Perhaps this is a dumb question but why do you want to run it at 8 ohm? That's a big amp that won't be putting out much power.

I can't believe you just said that. An underrated fuse will still blow. But you can use one smaller that is just big enough to last long enough to get a score.

If you are going with an aero port, I would use a 6" one at the absolute minimum. I know the XCON has quite a bit of xmax but a 6" aero for a single 10 seems a bit excessive.
