fi btl
Got word that magnets hit customs later in the day on Wednesday. But due to holiday Im sure they wont clear until Monday or Tuesday. We will get all back ordered subs knocked out within a couple of days receipt of magnets. We will be letting customers with back orders know when their drivers will ship. This is for the first wave of backorders.... as we are getting enough to fill 150 orders with the second batch of 250 magnets coming in about 3 weeks. Although at this point we only have about 25 backorders for the new 250 magnet order (from maybe the 20th of this month if I remember). Thanks, Scott

Fi lanyard.
Havent pulled the trigger on lanyards as we have had so many other things going on recently with OEM work. Flexfits are done and Ill try to get coded up on the site tonight or tomorrow morning (not knowing what to do with this extra time right now being on "vacation"... its amazing ) I do want to get lanyards and other smaller items sorted in the next week as they make good stocking stuffers. Want to do a small item "pack" for cheap too. Thanks, Scott

hats or beanies?
Flex fitsare done (black, blue, red). Just need to get them coded up onto the site... might try to do that tonight. Truckers will be done shortly as well. I just need to get things sorted with new print fixture for them and we will have those up in 6 colors too. Looking into beanies right now. Should have a good source for them wholesale shortly and get them embroidered. Longsleeves awaiting printing too... considering its getting a little colder out. Thanks, Scott

Fi btl dead=(defeat) ?
OK, well it was requested that the sub be sent back for several reasons... one of which is that we are good to our customers and take care of a great many things that should never fall under the category of "warranty". But we do. We also like to learn from every failure that we see. It helps us build more and more durable products. It becomes that much harder for us to work with a driver for repair when it was intentionally beat to death after a problem arose. We can no longer tell what had caused the initial problem (which could have developed over time, a setup change, due to a specific action of a volume knob or music track, or whatever. Regardless we like to get things back in the as failed condition... not after they have been beat to a point where we can not discern the initial problem. If you would like to send it back, please do. We do take care of our customers. If not, and you feel that our products are not worth the time, then I do understand your position. For future reference to all, please leave a failed driver in the failed state. It would help us figure the cause and be able to make any changes needed for the future lines or to better suit your specific application and needs. Not too mention it allows us to see if it is a "defect" and something that should be repaired for free. While the BTLs have not explicit warranty on them, we have taken care of way more than our fair share of non-warranty failures on them simply to keep a customer happy and to educate them on how to set things up given the specific mode of failure/circumstances. Thanks, Scott

Depends on how HT you are wanting them to be. 2.5 at 23Hz works well with most smaller plate amps with bass boost on board. A couple simple tweaks to the amps boost function the get it more in line with the tuning can pay off in deeper bass as well (as most plate amps bass boost is simply a high Q high pass filter which can be tweaked for a little more boost and subsonic cut) Clean little sub for lower power applications for car and home. Makes a phenominal computer sub as well Thanks, Scott

Thiele Small Parameters for fully loaded BTL's
Not to be a useless PITA, but we have so many versions that we simply dont have all of them. Between stock version and a couple of variations (coupled with FEA) we tell people per application what will work vs specific TS for every combination. BTLs in general model poorly to most people, but perform beyond expectation.

Any major changes to the Q motor since release?
Nope... only change was the addition of the BP option to the Q a few months after it came out. Other than that, its been a solid line for us. If you had a driver with a BP, nows the time to pick up another as we are running BPs for a whopping 0$ for the first 250. We have about 140 left as of Fridays count.

Fi lanyard.
As mentioned, we have about 10 irons in the fire for more Fi apparel. Hats, belts, lanyards, openers... Hats up at the end of this week with both trucker and flex fits (curved first as we are waiting on the flat bills to ship in). We are also working on a new sticker program and weekly contest for it (more to be announced by Nick later this week). Didnt figure we would be selling as much apparel as we do, but Im glad we got things set up to do it in house. Makes keeping up much easier.

New Shirts! Stickers!
Just got the hat fixture in so truckers hats will be up in a week or so. Dropped more hats off at the embroidery shop so Flexfits will be up next week as well... flatbills will be another couple of weeks too. More shirts designs in the works and we will have work shirts again, although we are trying to keep your cost down so they will be screened and not embroidered (but at about half the price of our original embroidered shirts). Our goal isnt to make a killing off of clothing (we arent a clothing company) but just to offer as much variety with apparel as we do with our subs. Moving printing in house as definitely helped with that. As for stickers, we are wanting input on what people might want or sizes currently not offered that might be a good choice. As always, more to come.

FI recone for RE Destroyer
I had nothing to do with that one. Name seems to say it all. We can come up with something on a full rebasket as I wont do anything like the original version with the 8" spider on a 4" coil... simply destroys itself.

Introducing Supergauss
Lol... while comical references abound for that, I wont be the one that starts them There is no reason why this cant be used for SQ applications at all. Not so much for the extreme motor force you can achieve, but simply to reduce the rear motor footprint in the airflow path. Or that it allows a similar set of soft parts to be used in a similar diameter motor, but now with heavy copper sleeving on the pole where that would have previously reduced motor force to an undersireable limit. It can be used in extreme underhung designs as well. No shortage of SQ uses as what SG does has nothing to do with the quality of sound, just a different way of achieving the desired motor force.

Introducing Supergauss
No, although some solenoids have even higher values than that as they can run extreme tolerances and much better cooling. No, we use them for acoustics and noise control applications in very extreme industrial environments. About the most extreme application we have done was for a company that did some cut backs in the sonic fatigue dept and they no longer could run their 10k Gallon tank and the air valve system to test. So we came up with something smaller to test scaled parts for them.

Introducing Supergauss
AHAHAHA... love that. Google does all of my engineering No reason not to have a 22" version of it. I have the "6 spoke" 22" designed, but think for sake of tooling cost (considering the 22" in this style basket will never be as big a seller as the 18 or 15) we will simply go with the original design I had for that series. Something I havent quite seen before, but we should have a cast version to play with in the next two weeks. We will decide from there if it will be worth the tooling cost. Actually, no there is no secondary suspension to avoid coil rock in the pure SPL subs. So... I simply embraced it and did something else about it. Something that for SPL is all benefit. Problem with some things we do is that I dont want to give away the farm... or at least feel that if someone wants to figure out what is done, at least buy one...lol. We have spent lots of time testing and trying different things and have to figure if its worth mentioning exactly what is done and others picking up on it to use as well, vs not mentioning things and let them slowly pick up on it and then use it. We could have made significantly more motor force on the SMD than we have, but it simply isnt needed in a daily driver. We are currently testing the limits on just how much motor force is useful for SPL applications as well. We have some exceedingly high Gauss densities in SG2 and SG3 that arent seeing realistic gains any longer in SPL. It seems we are fairly well up into the point of diminishing returns with respect to motor force. Mentioning Gauss volumes really doesnt have any benefit to the consumer as its not a normal value, and Im sure a great many manufacturers dont use it either. We are currently testing with BL^2/Re figures of over 2800 which are almost a good order of magnitude better than most big daily subs. And that is by no means the limit of things either. No vent on the poles for the SPL versions. Although the SMD could have a 2" vent and still not loose force, it just takes too long to bore out a 2" hole in a 4" core that is almost 8" long. We cant find 4"X2" tube in the correct material in the US. Otherwise we would use that and save the material and weight. Drilling a 1.5" hole (biggest bit I have to run that deep on the 32" swing lathe) then using a boring bar to clean it out to 2" is just a waste of machine time. Customer just gets to lift an extra 3lbs of steel

Introducing Supergauss
Steve will have his final protos in about 1 month. We will let him test test and more test to make sure they hold up well to what he has in store for him (vs previous subs he knows) and then roll into production. Realistically inside of 2 months if Steve approves things within a 2 week or so test time. SMDs will differ from these with basket and soft parts as well. This is not the SMD but a pic to show how SG1 motors are setup. Another company utilizing SG motors will be putting up info on their site and Im sure competitor based forums shortly as well. They are currently testing the SG1 motors in their SPL applications. Onebadmonte... how you clicking off pics like that from our "testfacility"...lol

Introducing Supergauss
It seems I have received quite a few emails since yesterday regarding the size of the motor and why things need to be so big... This motor uses magnets smaller than the current Mayhem motor (Which are 8.66") yet has more motor force than the original design for the motor utilizing a double stack of 11.25" magnets. We can make can make it out of neo (as was the motor design for an industrial client that was the first to use this topology from us). But, dealers have shown that larger sells and that is the specific market we are working with. SupergaussIII really shrinks things up and depending on how well this version is received by AA customers as well as one of our OE clients that is utilizing it for an SPL only sub, we may bring that to market as well. For our original client running SGI after their agreement was up and we moved them into SGII and SGIII they didnt feel the need to pay for an exclusivity contract as they realized their niche market simply wasnt going to copy the application (primarily because their competitors have no access to the products and installation in the first place).

Introducing Supergauss
Definitely will run the 6 spoke basket for the SMD. We didnt have a former quite tall enough at the time the pic was taken to fit right so we had the 12 spoke on there. On Friday we received samples in of the extended former coils that will fit for the SMD. This topology actually nets us about 15% more motor force than the last design utilizing the 11.25" magnets (and the magnets used for this version are about 3" in diameter smaller). And that is no where near pushing what we can get through a 4" core... just that for the SMD we dont need the ultimate in motor force as it is designed as a tough daily driver, not an SPL sub.

FI recone kits for MA subs?
Absolutely depends on the size of the coil, coil type, suspension and other parts. From $45-130 plus shipping. Big SPL monsters with expensive flatwind coils and lots of suspension and integrated leads... up to $130. Smaller motored subs with smaller coils and lighter duty parts start at $45. Not worth our time to do anything less expensive than that when you factorlabor costs for a kit vs what a skilled tech could be building.

FI recone kits for MA subs?
Im familiar with the basket, but not those motors. What size coils are in them? MA has used some US standard sized coils in the past, so the possibility is there, but not sure. Best bet would be to send one in for measurements and for us to fit parts. As it isnt something we have reconed before (or at least I dont have notes on one) we wont charge to ship the sub back... just for the kit in it .
