  1. Thanks, no new TL scores. Huge audible difference so I'm hoping for some decent gain. I wont know until I get out to a show maybe next month. No sweat, it mounts really well there. I only have 4 XS Power batteries at the moment. I had a d3100 under the hood but I like the look of the smaller 3400. I then have 3100s in back. I intend to go up to at least 7 or 8 batteries, but right now my voltage sits so well I'm working on other things.
  2. I've been working on brackets for numerous GM trucks and cars, but it seems there are a lot of vehicles where nothing is available. For those interested in a multiple alternator bracket for their vehicle and they aren't sure if I have one available, please ask here. Once you request a bracket I will look into making one as soon as possible, or let you know if I have something already ready to go. Please include the make, model, year, and engine size of your vehicle. It is important to have this information because some vehicles had small changes between years that make a big difference. Thanks, Troy
  3. I believe your car either had the CS 130 or 144. I'm still working on things but I want to do ad244 alternators. Because I have no finished product I don't know the final cost, but in the $225 price range ready to bolt on. One issue is that if I design the bracket for one case alternator, the user can't keep a smaller case alt because there's a good chance it would change the belt size enough to cause issues. You could mess with pulley sizes but that could effect the alternators output. If you need something now and don't mind moving things around I would just order from a company you are familiar with. In a few weeks I will have time to work on the bracket for your vehicle, but it could be little while before one is ready to ship. I personally don't like relocating a lot of stuff, so when it can be avoided I try to. I'll post some pictures of how things will fit once I get the bracket to a point where I'm satisfied. It will just make install more straight forward for the average person. I'm not familiar with Iraggi's bracket unless it's the one pictured in your link, but the setup I have in mind will be different.
  4. Still in the works, I initially was working on one, but it would require relocating (I believe it was) the washer fluid reservoir. I want the brackets to stay near bolt-on, with very little extra work, so that got put on the back burner while I'm finishing a few other projects. If you're in no rush I'll have one out in the not-too-distant future, but I can't give a set timeline right now. If you're in a hurry please email me at [email protected] and we can talk about it a bit more.
  5. Once I get a few more products in line, I'd really like to have a few things to bring up there with me to let a few people take a look at them. The brackets I have right now will fit basically any GM full size truck running on gas from 99 and up. I believe your engine looks like the one in the link I'm providing, in which case the answer is a definite yes. Link
  6. Wow you are close, I believe we've talked before a while back, maybe a month or so. If you want to meet up one day just let me know- I only live 10 minutes from Carolina Forest. Sure thing, much appreciated.
  7. I'm just outside of Myrtle Beach, and you? I'll be going to some competitions in Sumter, Florence, and Georgetown once I get things settled down, if that's a bit closer to you.
  8. Hi, I am working on brackets for several vehicles- especially older V8 trucks/suvs. To give you a bit more information, I live in South Carolina, which is Chevy country. Every bracket takes hours of designing and testing on each vehicle, so I must have the vehicle locally to make one. Because it is easier for me to get my hands on GM vehicles and they seem to dominate the competitions locally they will be taking priority. I have a bracket I'm almost finished with for the 350 in a 1996 2500, but I've found that there are many different configurations in the 350 between 90 and 99. Some have the factory alternator position on the drivers side, others the passenger, and there are some other engine component location differences between years. To determine if I have or am working on something for your vehicle just shoot me an email at [email protected] with the engine/model/year you are looking for. A picture of the engine bay wouldn't hurt either- but isn't necessary. I may not have it now, but I'm definitely working on making brackets to fit many more needs. I'll be starting another thread tonight for people to ask for the bracket they need in particular. If several people ask for the same thing I will focus on making one for that vehicle instead of other projects. Once my website is running there will be an ongoing pre-order section, so that when a product is about to come out people can get a nice savings in the neighborhood of 30% off. Thank you! I've considered some cars but most people save the high-powered setups for suvs, jeeps, and trucks. If there's a market for any particular vehicle I may explore it- I've had several requests for the Saturn Ion now, so that may be around the corner
  9. I've used oil based polyurethane on mdf as a base, then oil based paint. It's good to do several coats, sand smooth, then do a final coat so it looks nice/glossy.
  10. Hello everyone, thank you for the warm welcome. I have been a member here for years, as well as several other forums under the screen name tejcurrent. I used to compete often, though in the last 16 months I've had two children that deserved my weekends a bit more. I redesigned my system to be a daily listening vehicle that could still do decent numbers, and I wanted a charging system that could keep up. I began making multiple alternator brackets that could meet my power demands, while being all but transparent with my factory system. I set out a goal to make the best brackets hands down, and I believe I have succeeded. I believe anyone who tries my products will agree with me, so I am offering a pre-sale price on 3 of the models I have to offer, which I will discuss later in this thread. Creating these custom brackets requires that I have the actual vehicles and alternators they fit in my possession, so it is a slow process. I first make a template, which after testing becomes the base for the CAD drawing. All brackets are laser cut from 1/4" steel, with a second rear plate of 1/4" steel. By 'sandwiching' the alternators between 1/2 inch of metal you get an extremely solid bracket that offers no play, keeping the alternators aligned perfectly. Throughout the design process I tried to keep the end user in mind, keeping installation as simple as tightening a few bolts. All brackets attach to the engine with at least 2 bolts, with the 5.3l V8 GM bracket using 3 direct mounting points. There are precise spacers that prevent parallel misalignment that can cause belt noise and premature wear. The brackets then get a high quality black powder coat finish which looks great with basically any alternator color and finish. All alternator kits include high quality 12.9 grade 10mm bolts, flat washers, and lock-nuts to attach and assemble the bracket. Wiring plugs are included, though you must specify the vehicle and if your factory plug has 1 or 2 wires when ordering. High quality idler pulleys, and serpentine belt will also be included in the kit, making it ready for install out of the box. The dual 5.3l V8 bracket offers exceptional value because while it looks great as a dual bracket, by simply adding a pulley and changing serpentine belt the user may add a third alternator if desired. Here are a few pictures of what I've been working on. Pre-Order For 99+ V8 GM engines: 4.2, 5.3, 6.0, and 6.2 liter Full-size GM quad kit: $350. Full-size GM dual/triple bracket will be $250. 3 alt operation requires extra parts that raise the price to $300. For 1999+ 4.3L GM V6, including Blazers and S-10s. There may be more models and years this fits, these are just the most common Dual bracket will be $300. If I reach 20 pre-orders I will randomly draw a customers name and give them $100 off their purchase. If I reach 5 pre-orders of any one type of bracket I place my order and start shipping those brackets before the pre-order is over. If interested email [email protected] with questions, or simply PayPal a $100 deposit to [email protected]. Those who pay for the whole bracket up front will get two entries in the drawing for $100 off. SHIPPING IS NOT INCLUDED. I will have PayPal and credit card capabilities on my website, but prices will be higher than I am offering with the pre-order. Pre-order ends August 22nd, and all brackets will be shipped before the end of the month. When sending the deposit or payment PLEASE include your actual name or screen name and which forum it is for with your phone number as a memo so you will be added to the list. Thanks! There are currently 2 deposits for the 5.3l v8 quad bracket, meaning with 3 more deposits I will begin shipping early. Troy Jones [email protected]
  11. Been doing good, considering rebuilding my box soon but I'm really tied up making multiple alt brackets for gm trucks, from Tahoes to S-10's since no one seems to make a 4.3 bracket. I'm also working on a a low-rpm h/o GM alternator line. I finally got all 4 alts up and running well in my vehicle- you can see some of the pics a few threads down in the 2 21" warden 1000.1 thread. I need to meter but I think with a bit of tuning and box tweaking I'll be near my goal. Back on topic- have you tried countersinking the all thread? I've used 1/4" steel plates fastened from inside with a hole cut large enough to tighten the nut from the outside, also just mdf squares. Not the best way but better than nothing! Anyway, it looks sickly loud, what #s are you doing at the dash now? I didn't know Steve was out of RD now, changes their image for the better to me
  12. Lol, Thanks. Theres still alot left to be done. I think with the right song and box together there is a 133ish in that. Na, I switched from American Bass. Now running D9's. haha yeah, blew the fuck apart! looking into welding a cage or something. Are those amps doing better for you? I've just been scared of the c/s. A cage would probably be in order if you're having problems like that- unless maybe you want to dump an ass of resin in.
  13. I'm with Cheese, add like a dimple to the post that goes into the amp. If you have a slight recess where the screw sinks into it the straight smooth piece will be less likely to fall out of the amp.
  14. GREAT job, forgot how loud your setup was. What amps were you running (500.1s ?) That's one broken ass box lol, and still doing great #s
  15. Very nice, glad to see it back in the line up. I've had so many people ask me for lower power/cheaper subs in the last year- this definitely fits the bill. I'm waiting to see a huge setup with some stupid number of these for their price.
  16. I'd ask what your thoughts were, but I'd like to actually mess with it some more up around bbuy. I got some wiring cut and soldered for tomorrow, but I wont do the real work till tomorrow probably.
  17. Thank you. I hope it happens sometime soon, but with my truck taking a bit of a back burner it'll probably be a while. I'm really loving the sound of 2 1000.1s @ 1 ohm, but I would want at least 7 or 8 batts before I made that upgrade. I think if I can redo some things I MAY be able to fit 5 alts on that side, let alone the other side of the engine. It would be pretty nice to have 1000 amps at idle, though most likely overkill.
  18. 2 18" Wardens and Two Mmats. Doing port on driver side soon and adding more power. Testing has been sketchy at best, the heat has been sabotaging my scores in a big way so yeah..... Looking forward to future pics/vids. The heat has been rediculous here, it's either 95 or so or raining, and it only rains enough to make things humid instead of cool.
  19. Nice! What amp(s)? Did you get any numbers before hand? Any links to the build? Regardless of how light your wallet is that's still an accomplishment.
  20. Short video before my camera died. I'm very happy with this setup, though I'm getting the inch for more cone area and more power now that I have the electrical for it I need to get this metered as is and see what sort of gain I have from this upgrade, build a new box or 2, then I'll look at more power and such.
  21. I would love to get them there, but mine doesn't have them. They said they could order them for 30 a piece, but I want quite a few, so we're talking an awful lot of money. I don't mind spending 10 bucks, but 30 each? Found one website with the right plug, but they still want $20. I'm trying to find a good website with this plug in 2 wire or 4 wire form: http://www.naparts.net/Charging-Starting-Systems/AlternatorsGenerators/Painless-30705-Alternator-p8203534.html
  22. That may have been a better choice. I used Rustoleum lens paint- like for blacking out tail lights. It allowed me to recoat until I got the amount of tint I wanted, and I figure it wont discolor like cheap tint. I wasn't sure what % to use or I probably could have stopped by my local tint shop for their scraps but oh well. It's done now, but I might redo it down the road if I run out of other things to work on
  23. If it's a 4.3 v6 or 5.3 v8 I can do that. Seriously, email me at [email protected]. It's a lot louder, I'd say pretty close to the 4 18s though I can play it a lot longer. The amp just gets so hot with 95 degree temps and 1 ohm operation. I'm dying to buy another amp and run both subs at 2 ohms, maybe if I can sell some of these brackets I'll have extra cash Really stop by, bring whoever. There's a lot of rewiring to do now but it's 80-90 percent of what it will be volume wise. The VCM is niiiiice. I like it a lot more than my MLA. It's a pain to install from scratch, where the MLA was just plug and play, but the flexibility and digital display are awesome features. And it's a ton cheaper.
  24. Aw, not a single comment? Oh well, more pics and a vid. I got it up and running, it works perfectly so far. I'm going to give it a week or so of daily driving before proceeding with powder coating and stuff. It's MUCH louder with the little bit I turned it up, but I had to turn the volume down because coffee was shooting 1-2 feet in the air out of my SEALED mug. I didn't want to get things nasty so the coffee has to go before cranking the volume again. I have never had it leak besides when it's on it's side, but I guess there was enough slosh action going on lol. Pics: I soldered the plugs, I've been using some adhesive lined shrink wrap from Fastenal, it works great. Industrial velcro, I used big enough pieces to allow me to move it around some if I change things in the future. I was considering the vcm and a separate volt meter for the back. Anyway. VCM Mounting to the back of the plexi Running the wire and soldering to the steering column Finished product before powering up Powered Before anyone starts busting balls, I have some more wiring to do tomorrow, and a lot of cleaning up. Things are not going to be left like this, but I wasn't going to leave it at the work site just for a half hour of zipping wires up. Again this is a prototype and has not been powder coated yet. I'm going to run it for a while and see if there's anything to improve on (so far there isn't). Sorry I didn't get more pics, it was 90 degrees with 100% humidity and a hot engine. I just wanted to get it done. About 1/4 inch between bracket and electrical box, though there's plenty of room above and below the alts to run wire. This took a lot of cussing and effort, so please at least criticize it if nothing else lol. My voltage dropped to 14.6 for a second once while at idle, but jumped back up to the 14.8 it's resting at hot. I'm ready to go out in the country and turn my amp up Vid just uploaded
  25. I've finally got a working bracket complete! Please comment on here guys as I'd love to hear feedback. It's still not finalized, it's going on the vehicle for testing and if all goes well more will be made and powder coated. Since this is the prototype there was no reason to pay for powder coating yet. I need to read the forum rules and see if I'm stepping on any toes here but I'd like to offer these to the forum for a presale price of 3-350. This includes everything necessary for install. I've purchased alternator brackets before that required drilling mounting holes, or a degree in engineering to figure out since the directions were not narrated and it came in a dozen pieces. This is two large plates that only fit one way, and should take less than 1 hour for anyone with a wrench to install. On to pics: A front shot, again before powder coating: A back shot of the main piece: A side view of the edge. Pulleys added - important first step to make things easier for installation. Lock- nuts and spacers with grade 12.9 metric bolts. First alternator in place Clearance from pulley to alt is about 1 mm. This is necessary to give the best belt wrap. The plug for the alternator on this bracket should now be attached and the bracket bolted to the vehicle. It's dark and raining like crazy right now, so I'll post install pics tomorrow. Then it's just 10 minutes of bolting the extra alts in, and however long it takes to do the wiring. I'm using a XS Power VCM, which requires extra wiring. I started but my soldering gun tip was messed up, and I bent it the rest of the way in frustration. I spent almost 5 hours today searching for plugs for my alternators, only to end up crawling through the mud in a scrap yard chopping the harnesses out of wrecked GM trucks lol. I would have had this bracket on if it wasn't for my inability to find these plugs locally. I spent probably 5 hours searching today. I will have to find a supplier online and order some new ones I guess. Soldering in a small piece of extra wire to one plug XS Power will tell you not to splice their harnesses. I don't want to alter my factory wiring so I did it anyway. I split the two center wires, and added about 1 foot of my own. Soldered in, covered in heat shrink tubing, and zip tied back up. I started on the 2nd plug when my soldering iron died. More tomorrow, hopefully vids too. Again this is a lot more work than it looks like, so please post up some thoughts guys.
