  1. i'm getting a new car in a year so hopefully it will last atleast that long and plus i'm only going to do my rear deck and my trunk in peal and seal so if it does mess up i have easy access to it.
  2. the king of all that is rattles a 96saturn sl2 but i have already foamed the most of it and am about to but like 5 to 6 layers of peel and seal on ( my lowes only has the big 80 doller one which i can do my whole 5 times with. also is there any advantages of using a 15 or 2 12"
  3. hi , i am wondering has anyone tried putting a 15" icon in a sub up port back type enclosure in a trunk car. i would really like to use a 15" but my trunk height is only 15.5 inches high so this is the only way that i can think of.
  4. you need bandwidth for 3 way i belive. for 2 way active you need hp and lp. but for your budget i would get a b stock sundown sax100.4
  5. 190 alt powermaster d3100 in rear big 3 done in kicker hyper flex 1/0 powermaster d1200 in front the other amp is going to be a sundown 1500d for the subs ( two 12" icons)
  6. hi, i am wondering which amp would be better, i will be running my front stage with one of the other and it will be active but the processor will be my hu ( alpine cda 9887). ok here are the choices: new Eclipse Xa4000 bought online so an iffy warrenty. or a B stock sax100.4b that the bottom of the amp is slightly dented but has a 1 year warrenty with sundown.
  7. well the isolator could be making he making the .1 difference. but you have a short somewhere and the isolator is just a band aid fix.
  8. are the sax100-4 with the newer subsonic filter.
  9. it's a jl so you are probelly going to have to send it to them to get reconed.
  10. i was going to try to do some kind of hybrid sub out of it. but i might just throw it out.
  11. oh well they are cheap enough.( got them for free)
  12. hi, today i heard some horns because i wanted to see how loud they really are compared to normal speakers and i didn't think they sounded that bad it was just that they lacked midbass so i was wondering would it sound weird to have a horn and a midbass driver for a front stage and have normal speakers in the back( componots [i don't need to know that having rear speaker messes up imaging because i already know plus i already made holes for current speakers in my rear deck cover for the tweeters])
  13. na it was a phoenix gold OCTANE-R 15.0:1 wired in series parall with 2 dvc2 ohm type r's and i know atleast one has a burnt vc because i just took it apart the other day because the surround was starting to come loose from the basket.
  14. hi, i have a 12" type r that needs a recone (burnt vc) and since i can get a new one for almost the same price for a recone kit i figure that i would try to do a hybrid sub with it. but here is my problem. the type r uses a 2 " diameter vc and the basket has an opening for that size vc. so while i was looking around and i could find any sub that had a 2" vc that was worth doing something like this to. so i was wondering if anybody knows any subs that uses 2" vc. and also if anybody could tell me how a type r gets a burnt vc from only 375 watts. i see that tc sounds epic have a 2" diameter vc.
  15. you have about 2.5k rms system. so i would say get the 200 amp alt because if you get the smaller alt then you are going to need more batteries to keep the voltage up. and i want to say no on the lifetime warrenty but also email excessive amperage for a price qoute, too. and 2 4 guage is roughly about the same as 2 guage i belive. but out of those choices that you gave get the 309 doller 200 amp alt and buy a smaller pulley for it because that is the main thing that increase idle amps.
  16. the second one was for grounding the second battery. and what car is this?
  17. things i would do are: upgrade all 4 guage wire to 1/0 and run a 1/0 for the ground for the second bat. and do big 3 in 1/0 guage and btw with the 2 100 amp fuses you are pulling more then 200 amps with the rockford which might be one of the reason for voltage diference also i would check those fuses, if you haven't
  18. yea i was because of the big voltage difference. and also how is the second one grounded.( just to chassis or a negative run). either way it sounds like voltage drops are owning you.
  19. what guage size wire are you using and btw jl amps are made to not work in 10v so the amp is fine.
  20. what color light is lite on the jl because if you read your manuel the 450/4 only shuts off competely when the battery voltage goes below 10v. and all the other times it plays but bearly low. and check here: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/pdfs/Slash_amps/450_4_MAN.pdf
  21. does the warrenty cover it if anything goes worng. and once my ensclure comes in i will post a pic of it in my car to see if anyone has any ideas.
  22. i read somewhere that you can connect 2 amps to the headunit and be fine but after that you need a relay. or you could just wire in a switch from a 12V power source.
  23. the only place for it then would be either temp to do a false floor in the wheel well but i think my ensclure would cover it. i might be able to mount it vertical on an amp rack and push the ensclure back more. and i think it would help with vibrations because of thickness.
  24. the hifonics only puts out around 900 rms before clipping. but i would go with sundown because of the build qoality and warrenty.
