I think I blew my speakers
ok, we just figured out what it was.. I just got off the phone with the OP... he has 2 zcons 18s.. Apparently, when the subs were receiving power, the wire came loose at the amp(speaker wire) and grounded on the case... Well, the amp was mounted to a conductive material and that material is ran to the speaker box which is built out of steel... huh.... It caused a massive arc inside the van and smoke was everywhere... A couple of XS batts exploded in the process but the Zcons are still functioning or were until the electrical system got damaged... It was still playing "I Put On..." until the batts exploded... I'm goin up there tomorrow night to rebuild his XS batts for him and take his stetsom amp apart and make sure nothing is damaged... You will be fine TeamRamrod..

Stetsom 25k2e - more than 25000 rms
ah yes... 16v would save money to get to that 240v... Now the funnys I need to contact DC power and see if they can get me a 240v alternator for my car... Then i need to contact XS Power and see if i can get a stepdown from 240v to 14v.

Best sub choice
whoa, i misunderstood.. i thought u was only running 1 sub? I would recommend the AQ1200 for 1 sa-12 in about ~1.5-1.8cuft. If u are set on 2 subs, then u would want dual 4s.
-
Best sub choice
uh.. maybe, but probably no on the electrical upgrade That amp is perfect for that sub. Just make sure you get dual 2 and be good to go. equipment draw can\will vary from one car to another based on many things. I try and stress this as there is no 100% of knowing exactly what one needs for their electrical system upgrade-wise but this is a basic upgrade and if anything crazy were going to happen, the most you would ever need is a small battery in the rear, but i doubt it will come to that.
-
Best sub choice
Well, i;ve have experience with AQ sd2.5, SA-12, and DC lvl3. In my opinion, i'd say go with the SA-12. The AQs are nice and all but the SA-12 and DC lvl3 sound better, more soothing to the ear. It would be a toss=up either sundown or dc but somethin bout the sa-12 that just sounds so good.

noob with a noob question
The drivers will all SEE the same voltage, the current is what gets divided... When the current gets divided.. the POWER(wattage) gets divided. So if we had 100v 100a = 10,000w on 10 drivers Take dmm and ammeter to each sub- Each sub will measure 100v, 10a = 1,000w per driver
-
noob with a noob question
FALSE FALSE FALSE FALSE FALSE... If that were true.. then what you are implying is i can go buy a 1,000w amp for ~$150.. then go purchase 16 16 ohm single coiled drivers and get that amp to put out 16,000w. That's means it's over 1,000% efficient! I don't think so. Power is distributed from the amp to ALL coils. As long as the coils in the configuration are all wired the same, they will all receive evenly distributed power (minus inefficiencies in wire length and gauge from one sub to another) Now, if u had a 2 ohm and a 4 ohm coil, then the user is just plain retarded and the 2ohm would receive MORE, but never make the amp put out more power than what it can possibly do. Now, to the original poster- What vehicle is this going in? What coil config did you order your Q's in? Even though i am selling few 3500ds, i'm gonna see if u can get away with what u got without spending any extra money as that's always the goal.

I know I have a car audio addiction when......
when you know more specs about the limits of the vehicle than the car company has tested. when no matter what car you buy, they always have the following problems that need to be fixed- Windows need tinting Head unit needs replacing Sound deadener needs to be added, stock deadener isn't working. Needs more wiring under the hood Alternator needs replacing Needs more batteries to operate properly Suspension isn't strong enough Too many seats in vehicle Ah.. When will these car companies know how to build a vehicle right...

Stetsom 25k2e - more than 25000 rms
oh damn... haha, that's 20 batteries in series i would assume, yes? 20 rest at 13v = 260v.. Interesting enough... maximum non clipped current draw should be less than 200A, yes? less than 200A is awesome.. but.. i have a question. What exactly is the reasoning in using a power supply that needs 24v or 240v on some of the amps? The battery requirement would still be the same... If i had an amp that put out 20,000w @12v, let's say i used 20 G31 batteries. Now, if i had another one put out 20,000w @24v, i would STILL need 20 batteries, just 10 pairs in series. Same output power, just half the current output.. Is the purpose to save the customer money on the amp cost somehow? Does it make the amp more efficient somehow running that high voltage? I've been wonderin this for quite some time.

New Crescendo amps FTMFW!!!!!!!
just checked some specs with my tracking info.... Fedex says 4 5500ds weigh 152lbs! That's almost 40lbs per box.... Interesting to see how much these weigh out of the box. I know my AQ3500ds weigh in at 16lbs.

square sub vs roudn sub?
F.A.I.L. False And Ignorantly Learned Subs blow for one of two reasons. thermal = over current tinsel leads or coils... mechanical = over excursion and\or playing music on a tight gap rubbing the former\coil away or ripping tinsel leads The box and install will dictate the majority how something will sound. Common sense in the audio world should allow a user to choose the right basic driver for a cause.

Stetsom 25k2e - more than 25000 rms
i've always liked stetsom pricing and performance... If you do the math, you DO actually get more for the money when going with stetsom.. Many may not realize it but i would me more than happy to break it down as to why...

Stetsom 25k2e - more than 25000 rms
Well.. from past dealings and talking with others.. we all agreed that is how we were treated. Interesting now how i am being told the complete opposite. Well then.. since i brought up the 45kw amp.. you mentioned not everybody knows how to install a 240v amp. Simple assumption is you are referring to AC voltage... AC runs on the outer part of the conductor being used.. Now, without doing any research on it, what is different about wiring the outputs on this amp? Does it have something to do with not being able to use stranded wire?
