  1. I've been here long enough. Time to nut up or shut up, as the saying goes. Here are some pics of what I built. The goal: Loud. How loud? 140+ on the Term lab. The challenge: To do it with low power and a sTock electrical system. Journey with me as I go for the moon. First some info of my build. The car: 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Cierra A.K.A The Cream Puff Head Unit: JVC KD-HDW10 A basic CD player with a built in HD tuner and RCA outputs Amps: 2 US Acoustics USB-4085 1 at 85 watts x 4 @ 4ohms (mids and highs) 1 at 240 watts x 2 @ 4 ohms (subs) Fronts: Powerbass 3.5" coax in stock location Rear: MTX Thunder Axe 5-1/4" components Subs: 2 Ascendant Audio Atlas 15" Electical: Stock Stay tuned for pics. Thanks for looking.
  2. X2 Also if you get an alarm put a siren inside the car. Just be careful not to set it off while you're in the car. Talk about waking up in the morning the hard way.
  3. Pizzaman711 Great Buyer Prompt Payment No B.S. Thanks
  4. A+ Buyer. Kept his end of the bargain. Great guy to deal with. Professional and prompt. Thanks.
  5. Godsmack: I sold him some amps. Worked out a deal since I'm a first time seller here. He keep his end of the bargain. He was prompt, professional and communicative. A real good guy. It would be an honor to do business with him again. Thank you Godsmack. A+

Totally kidding....? I sure as hell wasn't kidding!! Neither was I...............best one i heard came from my boss at 2am " I'd suck a bubble guts fart out of her ass" Ugh. I just threw up in my mouth. The thought is just gross, disturbingly funny, but gross.
  8. Sounds like the economy is back on track.
  9. So at 12.8v Id imagine itl give close or maybe 2000 with no problem. And i guess im corrected also nice find I'd say go for it. There's on on ebay for 299 with free shipping. Use Bing for the cash back at 8% and the amp only sets you back 275 shipped. 2000watts for 275 is pretty good in my book.
  10. And here I though it was F I and it stood for F#cking Insane.
  11. I say go for it, plus it's the green thing to do. If you like it it doesn't end up in the land fill. I was hoping to but never got a chance to put these in my mustang as is. They would have fit nicely side by side with the rear seat folded down. I know I would have gotten laughed at, but it would have been priceless to see people's jaw drop when I'd post 140+ with a pair of old school home stereo floor standers.

The wife has had a real bad cough the past few days. When Bill Murry got shot she almost hacked up a lung laughing. I thought it was pretty funny too.

  14. Here it is boys and girls. My first post with pics. So I got these floorstanders back in 96. I was just out of high school, and had no clue. I wanted a home theater with bass. No better way of getting that then with big woofers, so with my pay check I did just that. I bought the biggest ones Montgomery Wards had, that I could afford. Long story short I was satisfied with my purchase. Fast forward a decade and a half. I'm out of my parents house in my own with a wife and kids. I look in my parents shed and look what I find, my old Jensens. I think to myself, these were the sh!t back then, let's hook them back up. I've got a new setup, all the latest and greatest. I hook them up, pop in some blah, blah, blah, and disappointment. So, let me show you what I did. Here she is in all here dusty glory. Remember only one is pictured, but I modified both. What came out and what's going in. Ignore the date on the pic, I'm embarrassed by how long it took me to post this. The actual modification of the cabinet. The finished product. 2 4" flared ports, aprox 3.5ft^3. The tune, around 28Hz. Both powered by a Behringer EP2500. The sound? Just how I remembered it. Don't worry about the mids and highs, they're of the sealed back variety and not connected. Enjoy.
  15. A professor once told me. Practice, practice, practice, and remember your order of operations. The latter being the most important. I took cal2 three times and barely made it.
  16. Wish you the best and good luck, and most importantly thanks. Opps, can't forget, the dude abides.
  17. That's on helluva tear jerker. Not cool when you're at work. Thanks to all those who have and are serving.
  18. Nice video, makes me wish I was there. I like how you changed scenes by having the film reel jump frames. What software do you use to edit? Any tips? It might just be me, but does Scott from Fi resemble that guy from West Coast Choppers, Jesse James? Cool vids. Thank for sharing.
  19. I have done a few CAD positions with very similar work over the recent years. It's got its ups and downs. Strikes and gutters, as the dude would say. The software is a nightmare, pro/engineer. I call it pro/p-o-s. OEM projects are the best. Logging and verifying hours. The paper work. Oh, and don't get me started on revisions, I love revisions. I am now in 3DS Max for this job, but will be using an array of different programs. That's cool. Is that software more like a free form modeling/surfacing. Pro/E is very difficult. Everything has to be dimensioned and constrained. It's difficult to get organic shapes without the surfacing module, which they refuse to buy here. Modeling duct work for under the dash is a nightmare. I must have aged like 30 years just working here. What can I say it pays the bills. Any work to show off?

  21. I'm a CAD/CAM designer for a manufacturer of automotive a/c systems. I design the parts on the computer, then program the CNC machines that make them. 7-5 monday thru friday, for the past 9 years.
  22. Get a plate amp from parts express. They have a 240watt@4ohm for $109 and a 500watt@4ohm for $250. I built my boxes tuned to 28Hz, I am happy with the output.
