Yes, we travel a fair amount and need cargo room. The sealed box more than likely will be my everday box and the ported box will be my summer box. Sealed I am thinking is should get rather nasty too. Im a big fan of sealed, wish I lived closer so I could maybe hear it.. alaska sucks haha. Im sure those xcons were great, Im hoping to run a xcon 15 sealed in my other truck while Im doing the body work on the bronco. If the money is there that is.. Thanks for the reply

I'd say he should get an icon just so he has that little bit of overhead, then basically all he has to do is not clip the amp. I'm sure the icon would get loud on 1000w. Probably sound nicer then the sundown 12 too..

With sealed its a bit harder for a sub to fail mechanically, but thermally the sub will fail at the same power level from what I understand. If your sub sounds fine, then don't worry about it. Obviously I wouldn't turn it up till it starts smelling, find that sweet spot right before.

Yeah that's around what I was thinking it was, couldn't remember for sure but I was thinking around 140 for two last time. Yes Alaska shipping is quite pricy, but I love the Dcons Everytime I've ordered something USPS it's been half the price, but I realize SSA only uses UPS and I'm willing to pay the extra bit just to get the subs. That's why I still have the 10" XCON (and PR's), 15" DCON, and 15" ICON sitting in their shipping boxes unused. One bit of good news, I did finally start assembly on the box for the Jimmy (using the $90 Baltic Birch) again. I may ACTUALLY get it done and installed before the end of the year this year. LOL Your to busy helping other people to work on your own stuff! Im looking forward to seeing you do some new builds yourself one of these days.

Hmmm Ive seen SP4 builds inverted in the exact way your saying, and there was nothing said about noise. Something seems broken/not right to me. Id check it thoroughly before making a decision, might be a defect in your particular sub? Just my 2 cents, I'm not an expert in these things.

Not over reacting at all. The FT1 is absolutely TERRIBLE for car audio. Whatever site that you read good reviews on is full of morons. Hell it isn't even a tweeter. It is a SUPER tweeter. Meaning you NEED a dedicated midrange to mate with it AND a midbass. To even come close to using one you MUST have a three way. To make matters worse, it is by far the most efficient driver which means even with a few monster midbasses and midranges you don't even need the output capability of that tweeter. Absolutely butt stupid to use a driver with the extra efficiency (since it is proportional to lack of frequency reach) in a frequency range where you do not need the sensitivity but could REALLY use the frequency extension of another driver.It is truly a horseshit product. There is one place they fit in car audio. In one of those cars that has speakers all over every surface in the car, but that is a whole nother level of moron. Then read the noob posting guidelines and make a decent thread about it. They are in my signature btw. Even your topic title is a fail if you are looking for speakers. Exactly why most of us didn't stop in to visit the thread. An amp is pretty much an amp. The install is what'll make up the difference. STOP searching for drivers. It isn't helping. You MUST define the install FIRST!And if this is the attitude and energy you are putting into it, I couldn't agree more with 140. Get some off the shelf components. You aren't anywhere near close to being ready to run active. It will sound WAY worse than comps with the mechanisms you are using to define your install. WAY. Ignore the ft1! Messed up my back today so I wasn't able to do anything with the ol' bronco, tomorrow for sure. I was looking at tweeters and liked the look of this tweeter: Morel ET448, and this mid: Morel TiW 634Ft Titanium 6". a little on the expensive side, but that's ok. I was thinking about it also and I think I'm going to just put both the mid and the tweeter in the door.
