I am very biased, but from experience, I feel the SA-10s really need to stay ported as that is where they thrive. The IDQ's are very composed and well designed subs, but in most applications should stay sealed. They are a great choice for balanced and clean bass. The JL W3's and Demons are a little more versatile in my option. The W3's have been very flexible in multiple enclosures and can be a great all around performer. The same can be said for the SSA Demon. Personally, I think the SSA is the best value.

Buy from a brand that has made quality batteries for a while, and knows what they are. Yinglong, XS Power, CES, etc. all quality established brands.

The Gcon can handle over rated power. If you want to add a little power handling, the flatwound coil will help for sure. But that will change specs and sound a bit.
Heck yeah. The Port Area is a little above what I usually suggest, as you are at 17.5 square inches of port per cube, and the Gcon tends to be in the 15-15.25 per cube.
Overworked like crazy, but it is paying off. Saving and investing like a possessed freight train.

Ryan beat me to it. But yes, there is a bit of overlap when it comes to box design between the two subs. Depending on goals and power, I can help steer you a little if you would like.

The Gcon can be optioned up with more suspension, larger leads, triple joint reinforcement, and a flatwound coil. All adds up to more power handling than the Icon.
