Yes, plenty of layers.

They will both produce low bass just fine. The MJ's are a finesse woofer and have a cone advantage, but the 15's will get more power out of your amplifier. Cost is not factor here since they are virtually the same price. From my experience, I think the MJ's blend very well, and the MAW's can handle all types of music in a ported box.

I have yet to try anything of their's, so I am interested. The build quality and attention to detail is very good based on the pictures.
