  1. The very end of the video is my favorite part. I just turned on the camera then hair went flying from both sides.
  2. This seems to be the issue. I believe this hit it right on the nose and I thank you for your input. I would also like to thank everyone who actually gave me suggestions on how to approach this problem. Today, I placed my subwoofer inside another enclosure that belongs to a local member, swift. And all seems fine, the subwoofer showed no signs of stress and sounded great. So the conclusion to this is that, in MY application, I could NOT use a larger enclosure. Swift will begin building my next enclosure soon. WONDERFUL news. I can relax now. In a way this topic is nice in the fact that some people can see that many car audio aimed sub woofers have a happy range in which their enclosures should be and the power they should get. Example, Dcon's like smaller boxes on modest power, where as Xcon's like bigger boxes on bigger power. All relative to the sub woofer and the environment it is in. Sorry about that Aaron As stated before, I was simply asking for advice, which I recieved to try and help me. In the end, I learned how much of an role that enclosures have on subwoofers. No worries, I just always want people to have a positive install with our drivers. Glad you were able to get it worked out and it was something as simple as a box that was too big.

  4. I see a green Dodge van.
  5. I have nothing against edouble or anyone who has a critique on our sub woofers, just want to make sure correct information is posted. I wish more people could demo Justin's blazer, or even Nic's S-10, both have unreal output on huge power, with an insane amount of low end and they are two total different installs. One being for competition, the other being for demo's, only real constant is Zcon 15" subs in Chevy trucks on big power. In no way do Mark and I say the Zcon is the best high output driver out there (as there is no best, and we don't say the Zcon is an SQ aimed sub woofer either), but it is a now very proven sub woofer with quite high power handling while still having great daily drive listening characteristics.

  7. Pretty sure I said that, or something similar. Not sure what you are reaching for, but that statement is just that. Yes, we have the Zcon that is capable of what is now bass boxing world record holding levels, but that has nothing to do with the primary focus of our brand which has always been great sounding sub woofers.
  8. In all seriousness, can I ask what your constant issue is with our drivers? Did they do something to you? You are constantly looking to find something to can attack the product on, or find some fault that is not there. We are open about everything, answer as many questions as we possibly can, and I am not sure where your approach comes from. We appreciate your thoughts and opinions (from all perspectives), but you are always looking to find something to attack the SSA drivers on. Now, we don't have any rep's (only a few dealers), so let's get that out of the way. The build house tests EVERY SINGLE SSA sub woofer before it is shipped out. It is part of agreement, it is what we pay for, it is one of the many reasons we have our drivers built at the best build house in North America. So we can assure it is done, we have seen in plenty in person, and we have a number of our drivers in our possession at all times. There is nothing f'ed up about it. The issue is that SSA does not design or build their product. Fi does. Can you argue that? If I wanted too, or anybody else for that mater, could do the same thing. How did you come up with the claim that SSA are sq drivers? You have tried this approach before in the past, and I will answer the same way. We work together with the build house through the process. There are a number of changes and adjustments that are planned and discussed collectively. Sure, if someone whom is considered the best at this in this market, feels a part of the design is not the best way to reach the goals and specs we are aiming for, I will surely defer, that is only the smart thing to do. For example, I personally wanted the new Icon to have a shorting ring, like the Xcon, to lower some inductance on the new version, but after a number of discussions, it was decided it would have taken too much steel out of the motor effecting motor strength more then the benefit of adding the shorting ring. So there is no argument or anything in question, as I have said this same thing a few times. We don't point to a picture in a foreign build house and slap a logo on it. We would not have such long lead in time, go through many adjustments and multiple prototypes, if we did not have any part in the process. If someone wanted to do something similar, they are going to need to bring a heavy check book, plain and simple. As for the Sound Quality part, I will leave that up to the many reviews, posts, emails etc. showing why it is not a claim.

  10. That would help answer a number of things. Dcon's, as we have said a number of times, prefer smaller enclosures. So to have too much power, in a box that is too big, with too much port.......
  11. The power level is really an issue, as the Dcon's are 2" coil drivers. I mentioned it in the email for a reason. That is the leading part of the details that concerns me.
  12. I am sorry to read you are having an issue. You are the first to report back about something like this. As for testing at the factory, it is far from cocky, it is just fact. They test the drivers before shipping to ensure no defects before shipping, hence the point of testing them before shipping. In all of our subs over the years I have used, and others have used in competition that were installed and used correctly, there have never been issues of scratching. Yes, there has been an older Icon that was dropped during shipping that shifted the motor enough that caused damage to the stack, which in turn there was a coil scratch. As for the Dcon's, it is impossible for two drivers to fail at the exact same time in the same enclosure. If you want someone at the build house to look at the drivers personally, shoot us an email and we will get it taken care of.
  13. The suspension is similar to the Dcon in that it uses Nomex spiders, but clearly these are different as this is a 3" coil and the Dcon is a 2" coil. The distance between the base of the cone and the spiders is a tiny bit different, but not much. Same basket as the rest of our models.
  14. As fuel prices go up, so does shipping cost. Something we have no control over.
  15. This pace is going to really catch up with me one of these times. Can we please rewind the clock to May of last year?
  16. You are not sure what the wrms rating is on the driver you are selling? We inched it up a few times, and the Gcon is not for sale yet. Pricing, wattage ratting and production specs are not officially released yet. What changes are being made? The motor design was changed several times, suspension switched twice, coil changed, surround changed, dust cap changed. The drivers you see in the pictures Mark just posted are production ready drivers. Same as with the Zcon, we are doing last minute things and finalizing everything up before listing them up on the SSA Store.

  18. We are not going to bring to production a driver with tinsel slap issues. Xmax will be less then the Icon, and lead slap is not an issue on the Dcon.
  19. I have not installed mine yet:
  20. Your driver is out for deliver right now. We updated tracking a few days back, just did not update status.
