Congrats on 32k posts. So what do you do besides car audio, and what all do you have your hands dipped into, audio wise? I have been doing structural modeling and design as a career since about 2003, in some form or another. Audio wise, I sold it in a couple of different stores early on, installed for a bit, then managed two different shops during under grad, ran a couple of shows way back when, and since 2002 SSA. Yikes, just noticed the 32k. To bass, I am not trying to poo poo your idea, just don't want people to think it is this big glamorous industry where people are rolling in it. The products have been so watered down. There is less and less original offerings and brands left.

I will say this, it is not an industry to make big money in. There are only a small handful of people at the top of the industry that are really making it happen money wise. The market is flooded with cheap products, and the race to zero and ebay is driving that tidal wave of cheap cheap cheap. Top end brands have been falling one by one. It is an industry in flux at the moment, and I promise you the fun is sucked out of it once you are doing it for a job. I have been working in and around car audio in some fashion, on and off since 1996 and it has never once been my primary source of income.

Mike, I can see both perspectives. From the enthusiast perspective that wants to really hit on the finer details, finding vent velocity is a great idea to make the best of the enclosure. But from a brand stand point, in many cases it is just adding complication and in many cases, customers can get confused. So much of the time it is best to just provide enclosure designs.

Not sure why you are surprised. There is a reason BMW >> Mercedes. I suspect any 10 year old car with this low of mileage would start doing this, so I can't point the finger at Mercedes just yet... My sisters '92 300E only had 65k on it in 2003, and it's only issue was radiator and a few little wear and tear bug a boos.

Not sure why you are surprised. There is a reason BMW >> Mercedes. Mine was nearly fault free. Biggest issue was tire wear, but that was my own doing. Guess there is a large difference between the old world and newer models then. I still would do terrible things for a 500E.

Anyway you could provide a sketch so people can help better?
