  1. Yes, but don't have much waking hours at home. I have gimp on my laptop, so I might try there.

  3. It is a different approach. The Icon is a clean driver with a rumpus bottom end that does very well in medium to larger size boxes. The Xcon is actually a little flatter in response, and could possibly be more accurate then the Icon and even with its larger displacement it really excels in a standard box size. I will be messing with stuffing and other boxes and power levels along the way. The goal with the Xcon, was to take the Icon one or two steps further in both clarity and output.
  4. Dave welcome to SSA. Glad you found us. Love all the pictures, and look forward to your Celica project. That 4WD Turist is kick ass.
  5. And I replied to your PM.
  6. Would love it if you paint matched the mirrors and the bumper. Love the monochrome look if you could not tell already.
  7. That is really a subjective thing. Meaning, everyone has a different perception and different ears. So, if you are worried about 1000+ watt power handling, abusive output with good excursion, while still retaining controlled sound, look towards the Death Row. If you are not as worried about power handling, and just want pure response, the Flatlyne would be the choice. As I am sure the FL can get plenty loud too.
  8. It is just for one speaker.
  9. I believe someone just put up a few videos of their install with the DR's. I will have to find them.
  10. Nicely done on keeping the exhaust reserved and not sticking way out. I am jealous of all that room you have.
  11. You're telling me! Mark laid into this thing past the point of excess. Which we have to do to make sure it meets our minimum goals for this driver. But what we usually do is the subjective listening testing first, then pour on the power, not the other way around. There are no signs of wear on the driver what so ever.
  12. I might need to get some local people to take a listen here soon. The response is extremely crisp in my sealed test boxes, zero note over hang or response delay. Yikes, this thing....
  13. Trevor, knowing how you tune and build your boxes, and the sound you like, if you are going big time power (above Icon limits) you are going to freaking love this thing.
  14. First listening test on this side of the country after 20 minutes..... WOW!!!!! & HOLY CRAP!! That is all for now.
  15. Winner Winner Chicken Salad on sale dinner.
  16. SSA is all about sharing and helping ideas and experience, but sometimes I know people get frustrated when new members make it hard to help or are seemingly unwilling to open up their plans or options. Not saying you are, but it is a source of a few conflicts.
  17. I believe the new line is the IB line, which would not apply in this case. The BL sounds like it would be well suited for you as you seem more worried about peak output. We cannot venture to guess on db meter reading because there are too many factors that will effect it. Honestly, since the BL's are waiting on some parts, and if you want a Fi sub now, the Fi Q should be plenty loud, and will preform well, if installed correctly. And welcome to SSA.
  18. Sean may come across harsh, but he is trying to be helpful.
  19. Skip the cap, the Kicker will be plenty of power.
  20. Yes, might give the option of different amplifiers.
  21. I say we go back to the drawing board and have a set budget, space limitations, and desired sound. Then we can help give you a good idea on deals on equipment and help with installation ideas.
  22. Interesting turn in the topic. I thought high school physics and SAT math for 2 years, and my mother has been college professor and high school teacher for over 30 years, so I have the other side of the perspective as many people posting in this thread. Crying about funding is not the problem. It all starts at home with the parents. The inner city schools are getting mountains and mountains of funding, both from the state and federal level. Now, look at the productivity, grades, and testing scores of these heavily funded inner city schools compared to public schools out in the counties where the teachers are paid much less, and the schools are provided much less funding over all. I do not want to get into this because the teacher is the guiding and instructional force and need to be held accountable, but if there is no drive from with in by the student and little to no support and assistance in the home by the parents and the family, it is pointless.
