  1. Thank you for the positive response, we feed off of hearing from people. To answer your first question, this is still early in the testing stage of the prototype. Mark is currently putting the driver through its paces to make sure it can handle a solid factor more then what our goals are and what we will rate it. As we have a great relationship with our build house, much of the design was hashed out in detail prior to building the first working version, this helps really dial in our goals. Not to mention it is cheaper then going though 10 different versions. As for decision making on design, it is effected by the parts available to the build house. But that is said for all companies, unless you are putting forth some serious money to go with something totally different. As for people tossing in money, that is a very nice gesture, but Mark and I have SSA debt and loan free. Meaning it is all out of pocket for us, but that is the way we prefer to. Now, if there was crazy demand for a specialty driver, much like Mach5 did with the SPL line, we would most certainly consider our options.
  2. Yeah I think Im going to just have to sell it and ill probably go with an AQ HDC3. So much for SQ... Not really looking for SQ, which is why Im opting for an 18... Thats why I mentioned looking at the Fi Q or Mach5 IXL, both in 18", both plenty of output, both still sound great.
  3. Don't sweat it, Mike will take care of you, he is very good at customer service. I know he has been slammed with his other business activities, but always see him come through for his customers.
  4. Much of it has to do with the size of the area you are pressurizing. Tiny cars or vans with walls tend to have a higher peak, large SUV's with below the window line enclosures tend to peak lower.
  5. If you love your Icon, and want an 18, look at a Fi Q 18 or Mach5 IXL 18. Don't take a step back in clarity.
  6. Exactly, as in I will not listen to a sound track from a musical on my Icon.
  7. Welcome to SSA, sorry I don't have experience with that amplifier model.
  8. Shame he is not close, so he could hear my mach5/seas active front stage. Then we would not have to say a word and just watch his face as ignorance changes to understanding.
  9. THe SAE-1000D is plenty of power for that sub. Build the enclosure to suggested specs and you should be very happy.
  10. Message Ramos, he would know the best out of anyone.
  11. Ouch Jmac, I will think of you when I am pissed about my high insurance deductible.
  12. ^^^^^^^^^^^ buy his moofers Yes, buy his moofers please.
  13. Thats a woot scoot good buddie.
  14. I had good results from one layer of Second Skin Damplifier Pro, one layer of Damplifier, and then the Speaker Tweaker pad.
  15. Both are a great choice, I am a little biased though.
  16. On this day in 1990, the most complete skeleton of a Tyrannosaurus rex ("Sue") was discovered near Faith, South Dakota. In 1981, the IBM Personal Computer was released--the 5150 PC included an Intel 8088 CPU running at 4.77 MHz and a choice of two, one or no floppy drives (for users planning to connect a cassette recorder via the cassette jack). In 1977, the Space Shuttle Enterprise had its first free flight. In 1960, the first communications satellite (Echo I) launched. In 1953, the Soviet atomic bomb project proceeded with the detonation of Joe 4, the first Soviet thermonuclear weapon. In 1943, marked the alleged date of the first Philadelphia Experiment test on United States Navy ship USS Eldridge. In 1908, the first Model T Ford was built. In 1883, the last quagga died at the Artis Magistra zoo in Amsterdam. In 1877, Asaph Hall discovered Deimos, the smaller of Mars' two moons. And in 1851, Isaac Singer was granted a patent for his sewing machine. 17. If you offer to buy a 100 of each, I am sure I can help to make it happen. what would u give ...ur 21" rims ... Sean's basically pointing out that there isn't a big enough market to support the investment into those oversize types of woofers. I'd expect SSA to offer 12", 15" and 18" at the max. Probably won't be a 10" since the motor is too big. That, and the mechanical limitations of the 10" basket could cause problems, problems that we cannot risk at this point.

Probably won't be a 10" since the motor is too big. True. I do think they need a 18" tho. Including the fact we cannot afford the parts to go above an 18", nor the very few people who would actually have the room for such a large driver. We are a very small budget business, much tighter then people realize, so every penny counts, meaning we are bound by what we have access to at the moment.
  19. It will probably move to production with the 12 and 15 for sure, and we will figure out if an 18" version is needed.
