  1. Plenty of people here will say Skar has dismal customer service. Haven't heard as many bad things about the amps as the subs, but enough to steer me clear.
  2. Will an alcohol soak work for an amp? I've dried out a handful of cellphones by soaking them in 99% isopropyl for a couple hours and letting it dry completely (takes hours to a day or two for phones, no doubt longer for an amp)
  3. Sound deadening will bring any set to life, just look for a decent, reputable set and worry about HOW you install, not WHAT you install
  4. I wouldn't run my doors at 1 ohm, power is not that hard to come by.
  5. I'll keep that in mind for when I'm back
  6. I'm in Joliet til june for some court following that drunk running me off the road in January, but yes, I still live in FT Wayne. I thought about a wall, but, in addition to the change in weight distro, that's a couppppppple more cuts than a box rofl and I'm already struggling there. If you guys in my area would really be up to help, as soon as I get things settled after I'm home that'd be awesome Hell, if I could get that kind of help, I'd be somewhat willing actually save up for another three 18's for a clamshell. ESPECIALLY if I went with something more budget friendly, like Obsidian. But I guess I got some more thinking to do, before I purchase anything lol. Thanks for the quick answers
  7. I'm perfectly okay with not using them as well, but like I said, being able to retune without making any modifications to the box itself is a big motivator, I guess the way I look at it, at the rate I'm always changing my systems and having to find new enclosures, after a few years, I'll have saved on building anyway.
  8. It's not necessarily the cost itself that concerns me, it's just not wanting to buy something with no idea if it's what I want. I got a new job, no longer on that IN minimum wage bullshit Lithium, access to the tools to build boxes is almost nonexistent to me, I'll have to make a four hour drive tomy hometown to have these cuts made. I don't have anywhere to store tools if I bought them, my apartment is fucking tiny. Not to mention I'm not exactly confident in my woodworking skills, I've never used more than a circular saw and a jigsaw to build and it's always left something to be desired, at least aesthetically.
  9. Thinking of trying the BTL with two VMP's to save some space in the truck. I was already running short on space with the twelves and fifteens I had, and the BTL box is the biggest yet. Trying to tune low, and keep getting gargantuan port sizes when I try to keep the area big enough to avoid noise. I don't know a ton about them, but the potential space savings and ease of retuning are extremely intriguing. I'm actually reading that page you have posted somewhere in your build log in another tab. BUT they are like 250 a piece and i'd like to know more about what i'm doing before just slapping it together.
  10. When using a PR in place of a port, you would keep the same internal box volume as the equivalent ported enclosure, correct?
  11. Happy Birthday mang
  12. I don't get it, Bump
  13. I read it like twelve times trying to imagine someone talking like that. Just sounds like a pissed, hiccuping drunk to me lol
  14. WTF I expected it to go FAST
  15. I have the high Xmax coil and no spacer on my 18.
  16. now only if we could only get a couple other people on bere to admit such *cough* ///M5 *cough* lol ///M5 isn't an asshole he just tells you how it is and doesn't sugar coat things. He makes you think about your posts. Theres a few more people like him! Honestly I think that's how more should be! Can't lie, his posts infuriate me sometimes, but I can't argue the accuracy of them. Mostly irritating because he's usually right though lol
  17. The DD-1 could cost you your subs, it doesn't have the best track record. I'd re-tune them by ear; haven't you read the pages of horror stories from people using the DD-1 on here? Lotsssss of burnt up woofers from amps incorrectly setup using the DD-1.
  18. I wonder what language they post in.? Those Mofos are annoying Half the time it's some cyrillic language. Copy/paste into google translate it lol.
  19. I just recommended him to Singer an hour or so ago He has already found an off brand 140a for his car, for $450 We were just looking for a better alternative, before the purchase. tryna talk him into an Ethos 12 It won't be over 2-2.5kw rms total, so how strong of an alt do we really need for this car? He's looking at a Hifonics BRX1600.1D and possibly a Q-120 for the doors. He also wants a pair or a set of large batteries for the trunk, it's looking like two D3100's or three 3400's. He wants to be able to park and play - I explained how hard this can be on the electrical, but it's an important factor to him.
  20. Does anyone know where to look for a HO alt for an 02 Kia Sephia? Looking for a 140-175a for a friends car, the only one we can find is a 140a for ~500
  21. lol. Just going for more cone area until production model is release is all. Switching from a single 18" setup?
