I have a customer that swapped out two older Alpine Type X's with a pair of SA-12's in the Alpine box powered by an AB-VFL 80.1. The SQ and overall loudness to the ear was noticeable immediately. Never got it on the TL yet but he is totally converted to Sundown as well. Great test against a very reputable brand. Thanks for the comparison test.

Not real familiar with Treo but they look heavy duty! See if he will sell the sub without the box and see if you can get it cheaper.

Measure your trunk opening to make sure you can fit a large enclosure. 3.25ft^3 tuned to 35hz in a trunk will be a lowend monster but still have that chest impact. For space saving I would do 1 6" P-S-P Aero port with a length of 15.75" side firing into the corner of your trunk.
