  1. Good to see they got you taken care of. Almost looks like the aluminum had porosity and caused weak areas in the housing and when they machined it it got worse as the material got thinner.
  2. Is the build house overseas or still based in the usa?
  3. Really quite sad, I remember way back when emailing him questions and he always answered in a timely fashion. Excellent customer service. It really stinks, as Mike's hands are really tied here as he put up a crap load of funds for a couple of build runs that have not been done still. Wow that really stinks. I was wanting an RLP-18 for my HT. I hope the new buildhouse can come through for him.
  4. CEA means nothing but a marketing gimmick. But either should fit your needs just fine. No audible difference in the 200 watt difference as stated above.
  5. I'm in the Electrical Power Industry and the job outlook is great as the "Baby Boomers" are retiring faster than they can recruit younger replacements. Electrical Utilities are a secure place to work as you always need qualified individuals to keep the lights on. Just my .02!
  6. I would say roughly 19-21 mm
  7. Best bet is to contact dB-r since they are the official repair facility for Sundown Audio.
  8. Actually 1.5^3ft is pretty common size for the SA-12". If the OP could either post pics of trunk area or get us measurments, it would be easier to recommend something else if they are space limited.
  9. Why? Why does it need rated power plus 400watts per driver? No such thing as under powering being a bad thing. Consider the drivers being overkill for the amp, and not the drivers being under powered... I should have worded that differently, I know it doesn't need that much. I ran a single SA-12 off 400w & it got loud enough for my liking. I'm sure someone with more knowledge will chime in, but here's my .02 .............. A single SA-12 with 1,000w & a proper size ported box would be louder & more effecient than two SA-12's with 500w each & restraints on box size. And with one you don't have to run it at exactly 1,000w, the gain can be cut down some & leave plenty of headroom. With a pair of SA-12's you're really gonna be pushing a SAZ-1000. Plus, it's gonna be $200 cheaper. You’re doubling motor force and cone area. Theoretically it should be louder than 1 12" on 1K watts. Plus he could always add another SAZ-1000D and strap them to the pair or upgrade to either a SAZ-2500D or bigger.
  10. I think his problem is that he doesnt have the room to give each driver 2 or more cubes. LOL, I know I mistyped and went back and corrected to 1.25-1.5^3ft. My bad!
  11. With the SAZ-1000D I would look at going ported in the 1.25-1.5^3ft range, tuning around 35-38hz. Built in cabin gain and transfer function should give you the deep bass your looking for but yet stay transient. All install dependent though. The SAZ-1000D is(was) a powerhouse little amplifier and with proper setup should be more than enough without taxing your electrical and pocketbook.
  12. C'mon peoples jump on this killer deal. Help out SSA and get yourself one hell of a 3 - way component setup.
  13. X2^^ Only way I would use 8 gauge is if I had extra lying around. 12 gauge is more than enough. Look at the size of your tinsel leads, nowhere near the size of 8 gauge.

  16. Nice to see Zed coming out with a full line up of great amplifiers. The Drednaught sounds very interesting.
  17. SoundSplinter has been pretty quiet. Anything news worthy coming out as far as new product?
  18. Thanks Nick, beat me to it. Box looks well built. What type of material do you use for your enclosures?
  19. Any updates? Looks like you may have found your problem with the SSF filter being set to low for your tuning. Let us know how it sounds with the SSF filter set higher.
