Compare how? The BTL and the XXX use very different motor designs... What do you mean by real music, do you really need that 3kW?

Aren't the XXX's midbasses only? I thought they had spectacular midbass, but a really terrible midrange...needing seperate midrange drivers.

That's not really what I said... You're really interested in a musical sub? Because if so, the drivers I listed would be perfect. I just read the word "compete" around here and 99% of the time it's someone wanting to "hit" harder than someone else...

Hmm... Aura NS/MR's, Focal Utopia's, Rainbow Vanadiums, the previous generation of Stereo Integrity Mags (haven't heard the new ones yet). But something tells me "competing with him" involves farting loudly, so none of those subs would do anything for you...you'd be looking into a more peaky woofer like a BTL or DD 9500 series.

Just a single or a pair of MkIIIs? Definitely post pictures when you're done I see refurbished ones up on Audiogon a lot, whenever I go active at home they look like the perfect midbass amps...

Haven't we been over this before? Some people love them, some don't. I personally don't like the way they sound, they tend to sound bloated to me. There's other subs I'd take over the W7 in its price range, that do a lot better IMO.

Apples and oranges. Having heard both I'd say that I prefer the sound of a Q over the sound of a W7, though if I had the budget for the JL I wouldn't be buying the Q either

I'd go with the Eclipse and get a head unit that has good processing, if that one doesn't. No point in going active and limiting yourself to just the onboard crossover if you're buying a head unit anyway...

That wouldn't even work, because the way Winamp's media library seems to be set up, once an album is selected it will only play through that album until you manually select another. And I'd really want to keep the albums in order, so I can go to one at a glance without having to use the search box all the time.

If you want "loud & low", you're tuned way too high.

Well, I can't quite figure out how to make Winamp do this. I want to be able to have it random shuffle through albums, and then play through the album in order...and then once its finished with that album to move to another random album. Winamp seems to let me randomize from all the files, not really useful. Are there are players out there that can support this? And if you recommend Foobar, I want a link to something that's already configured

I've never been impressed with the SX's I've heard. Too sloppy.
