2.83V @ 4 ohms = 2 watts...so to compare it to regular measurements, it's actually 88dB @ 1w/1m. The BTL is listed at 93.3dB @ 1w/1m. FWIW. Judging by the specs, they seem to be two very different ways of going about the same goal.

It's a high-pass filter, starts attenuating lower frequencies while letting higher ones pass through... Ported enclosures don't "control" the woofer's cone movement below tuning, so if you play strong, low tones and have a box that's tuned high, it's likely you can overexcurt the woofer and cause mechanical damage.

Totally depends on the amp I'd have at the time...as long as I can get the amount of power I'd want out of the amp, the impedance I end up with isn't a factor.

The inductors required to do passive 3-way scare me. There's a lot of copper in them thar thangs... The one thing I'd change is to run the mids in kicks, to reduce the pathlength difference. Midbasses could go in the doors.

Not always. Altec/JBL did wonders with low displacement, extremely low Mms, low Xmax drivers, that happen to sound excellent A sweeping generalization...

We now have available a SPL package option for the WMD 15's. They feature a glass/cabon fiber honeycomb cone with a tall high excursion foam surround. The lighter honeycomb cones increases effeincy by 3 db over the standard WMD pressed paper cone and add 14 sqaure inches of cone area by incorperating the tall surround.
