  1. I am using 2 15's right now in my truck, they are a good solid driver for sure. I run 1500 to 1600 watts to each of the Mayhems, I daily drive it that way and have never had any problems. You can put a lot more to them of course but i daily drive a 153 on that amount of power. So I do recomend these subs. they are very loud at very low hz.
  2. ---- Sundown audio ---- Ascendant audio ---- Boston Acoustics ---- SB Audio, Enclosures built by Eric Hoss!! Check it out!!! ---- TC Sounds
  3. Yeah i read that they went through enclosure building and home theater and glassing. I want to learn to do all of those things in addition to what I already know about stereo from experience. My only hesitation would be the fact that most busineses want to see a Bach degree, or more. and i have yet to find a college that will hand out bachelors degrees for mobile audio dynamics. lol. I WISH!!! I am a firm believer that if you do what you love you will never work a day in your life. but also i have to be able to support my family. since you graduated from that school, how are you doing financially if you dont mind me asking? good wages, good market? i work at bestbuy install bay, i make 15.00 an hour not much, but what i do there is alot of repetition, about three deck everyday, and one amp install covers about a six hour shift. then we have alarms which we block the whole day off. before any one hires you you need experience. there are not going to hire you right out of school, plus you still wont know enough knowledge after school. but where i make my money is my side jobs. once you know your fiberglassing and box making you can have fun, but you have to realize people dont know how much money goes into fiber glassing, and dont go through with it after they hear the price of material and labor. ive done a couple of cars just for knowledge purposes didn't even charge them labor just materials and it was still expensive for them. along with my 40 hours of work. but after showing there cars off i was able to get clientel. now i just have business cards and do it out of my garage. eventually i will open my own business too, but im goin to graduate soon with my bachelors, but i will do all the business part of the job and just hire skilled labors to work for me and then ill do a car every once and awhile. Yeah does sound like a lot of repetition and busy days. Not a bad thing by any means for me anyways. Tho I can see how it may be hard right off the go. Since i would just be getting out of that school. I deffinately would love to get into fiberglassing and box building. Ok so big question. Was it worth it to go to this school? in hind site would you have still gone? and would you recomend this school to me or others? yes it was worth it, i learned alot of hands on stuff, i would recomend it, plus you meet alot of audio heads, and plus you get what you put into it. plus the home theater stuff you learn is awesome. remember i didn't pay for the school. if i had to drop money i think i still would go. being MECP Certified is good if you job wants you to have it, but it still only proves you can take test not take a car apart. remember out of an hour radio install 40 minutes is dedicted to taking the car apart and putting it back together 15 min putting the radio and harness together and 5 min of planning where you start before you do anything. once you do a car alot you can do a car fast. for example in a comepetion at work i did a 03 sierra in 11:15 min/sec. its pretty easy. Thank you for all the info! I do appreciate all of it. I at first was hesitant about the school but it does sound like a great school overall. I think that I may invest in this school so i can get deeper into mobile and home audio. again thnx

  6. Ok, well i think that i may go in another direction. Though a quick jump would be great, but the money and a reputable shop sounds much better. Thank you for the advice and information
  7. --- when your wife is jealous of your stereo, not cause she wants one! because you spend more time with your speakers than with her. --- when your wife mentions a blow job, you think HAIR TRICK! --- when you have a lowrider because of the weight of the subs and batts --- when you can call out every song you hear by the bass line --- when you insure your stereo rather than the truck its in
  8. I have been trying to find a good school for mobile audio installation, fabrication, and such. I found this website about this school www.mobiledynamics.com based in Arizona. I know nothing about this school and can not find any feedback from people that have gone there. If anyone knows anything about it please, let me know your thoughts. Thanks,
  9. 25$ is 25$ its not a lot for a good working sub and box. I have one of those subs, it was the first sub i ever owned and have had it for 5 years and still works great you just cant overdrive it as with any sub. Pioneer i believe stopped making that model and revamped to a gray cone with a couple diff mods. 5 years ago i paid $56 + tax for just the sub, and the O so hated Wally box. But like i said i still have mine and it still works (in my wifes car lol) sounds clean for what it is and how much it cost. hope this helps.
  10. So when do we get to see videos? really nice work!
  11. I run two 15' Mayhems and I love them, there is really not a whole lot difference in the two. they are sister companies the mayhem has a different coil wrap and a more advanced cooling system. they take the power and put out great numbers. but where they really shine is on the lower end.... VERY SEXY!! lol but I believe, less they have changed in price since i last checked the 18s where about 540 a piece.
  12. Thank you, I am glad that I can help you out on deciding which sub to get. I know that I spent over a year picking out which to buy for myself. You will love them, right out of the box they will hit unbelievably hard but will not have a heavy low end, i put in about 20 hours playtime and then they start slumping the lows, beyond 20 hrs they just break in to a nice medium and the excursion is unreal. lol. I just had a new box built for the truck, in all the vids you watched im using the old box. I had wondered why the subs where only hitting a 151 db @ 48hz so i decided to get a bigger better box. The box in the vids is only 8cf. ported tuned to 45hz mainly spl. front baffle was 3 layers with baltic birch in the center, the reason for the 151 was the fron baffle had seperated from the rest of the box. lol. So I now have a bigger better box, about 12cf. ported, port plug, tunable from 30hz plug in to 50hz plug out. First test run on the term lab a 153 @30hz port plug in. have yet to test at a higher hz with out the plug. #'s soon to come.
  13. I got mine for 500 a piece shipped. pretty much anywhere you ask they will be right around that. but lol didnt mean to make the decision harder, the Mayhem is pretty much a loaded BTL, just with a more advanced cooling design and higher tolerant coils. Here is a link to the videos of my Mayhems take a look! http://www.youtube.com/user/Valhalla00Awaits
  14. You might want to look into Ascendant Audio, they are a sister company to Fi, check out the Mayhem I use 2 of the 15's and run a SAZ3000d per sub all day long. They have a new Heli cooling design on the motors so that the coils will stay much cooler, Also Chris, that owns MLA Audio, has 6, 15s in his hummer and runs about 3500wrms per sub and he demos a lot. Hope this helps.
  15. Why do most people tend to run sub up port back then? Unless that's what you meant.. Most people to it to hide the box more, and keep the box below the seat backing, as that would be classified as a wall. I also said it tends to, not 100% of the time. You are right about the Wall classification, and hiding the box! But to get more into technicality you will find that low freq sound waves move a lot like water does in the essence that it will take the easiest path, naturally. So in facing "port back" the sound will travel up your hatch along the cealing and slam into your dash, and depending on the orientation of your port, straight into the tl meter. This works for hatch vehicles. Trunk cars on the other hand..... "A whole different kind of baby". I hope that this helps in anyway. ;D
