Not going to help. You will need time alignment for the midbass at minimum for proper imaging, assuming that's your goal with the SQ install. We localize midbass by time arrival difference between our two ears, you can't fix that with level adjustments. I'm not a fan of the idea of "full range" drivers used on the top-end of a 2way. There are advantages in how low the driver will play compared to a large format tweeter, but IMO the disadvantages far outweigh the advantages. IMO large format tweeter is a better option. I'll be looking for a processor, if I can't figure a way out with the carputer. What tweeters would you recommend? I don't have a set price range, but try to keep it reasonable. would also like to know ... looking @ scanspeak R3004/602010 but not sure yet ....

You think the painkiller song is hollow in the midbass range? Typically I have pretty good luck with clean midbass freq's without so much sub bass from most any Judist Priest song. I don't have any experience with those tweeters so i can't comment on that. I imagine there is probly a few cheaper options also but don't have any suggestions. Good luck Brother. what comps are you looking for , daily and comp both might not be within reach they often require different portarea and boxvolume and indeed as stated above; given power wil dictate those to a certain level

We talked about judas priest - painkiller ... the 2 versions I got on my stereo sound kind of hollow ... are all versions like that ? for upgrading my front I'm thinkin about a tweeter that can be crossed really low (preferably 1 / 1.2 , at the most 1.4 Khz) would the Scanspeak R3004 series be able to do that ... all given values are given with an 2nd order butterworth @ 2.5 khz eventhough their Fs is below 600 , I also would love to try a ringradiator from that series ! all this to get some of that wideband speaker sound back without sacrificing in the highs , I dont have a lot of room because of airbags , so therefore a tweeter that has got its own backchamber and I don't have to build a large pod and placement will be better .... any good ideas ? would like to keep it under 350 bucks

you should really considder seriously rounding of those ends . I was wondering if this is going to be a box for comps because port is rather large , take airspeed up to 24m/s in port so the port can be a lot smaller and thus shorter , safe/efficiciennt enough for daily that box is only 0,75 thick all round ? I'd up it to at least 1inch and brace it well with rods end correction was used . I'm off very seldom , and when it happens usually the builder did something wrong , I'm no genius though .

box looks nice , I'd personally not put that woofer that close to the portbeginning ...put it a little more to the middle of the box

I'm at 32.92 Hz with that calc (in bassbox pro6) , so port needs to be a tad longer , with the same internal volume you need a 42,77 inch long port including flares could help a bit more but need thickness of walls

Thanx Impious , but that was one one the first things I looked for ... J. roadtatts found them back for me actually a couple of days ago And also thanx to Edouble101 , that SQ subsection on DIYMA Is great , I've spend a few hours there reading yesterday and It is full of usefull info ! It helped me find the most anoying peak and biggest dip in the response this morning i wasnt able to locate... sounds a lot better now ! come to think of it my last car was soooo much easier to equalize ... must have been the 3inch mids in cabinets that made it so damn easy

5 band parametric,level up to +6/-6 ,not L/R independant or graphic 7 band , x-over L/R independant , TA 0 to 360 centimeters (about 4 yards) per driver , stock placement for the speakers high up in the door for tweeters and midbass far low corner of the door ... active , not really looking for a new place to put the tweeters because I want a stock look and I dont want to mess with the airbags on the sides of the windshield , got some work to do on the doors but its come a long way looking into buying the RTA set from Termlab as I already have a termlab and RTA software ... but no at this point not available great I'll look into that . but guys the question really was for some great tunes to tune the setup !! what to look for ?? mailed an aquentance of mine , national champion a few times over and he'd give me some of his CD's so I'm probably set

TA , parametric EQ , level per speaker ...........all needed to get a relatively flat response and good staging (at the same time).

I've had a buch of bass installs , never payed much attention EQíng the front stage because the bass was simply to loud to notice the flaws the frontstage had Now I want to attempt to get a frontstage that is more than decent , no SQ comps , just for my enjoyment I want have it really good . A good part of a system is EQing the system to get the staging tonal balance just right , but with what music or reference tracks best to do that with ? reason I'm asking is because I keep turning on knobs cause I can't find "it" what I'm looking for with the music I'm familiar with .. there must be some stuff that can get you close in "steps" followed in a logical order

I am NOT talking about the sensor or the box it connect to . the RTA mirophone does not plug in to that box , and like stated termlab RTA finds the computers own microphone but it reads really off (just between 200hz an 3khz)

No, hehe. Termlab calibrations are used by more than just Termlab products.. Several companies use them in fact and can boast identical results to Termlab. However, for the OP's scenario.. I would "think" only the Termlab RTA can be used. Do you know how the Termlab RTA mic plugs up? If it plugs up via the link box then you MUST use theirs as it must run through Instacal for proper connection. The Termlab RTA is a broadband mic too so KEEP THAT IN MIND! Normal RTA Meters that you see sold cheap like Radio shack's inventory, for example are standard cheap rtas that peak at 130-140db with loose accuracy. A Broadband mic is used to measure higher than normal RTAs (120-140db peak).. Termlab's goes up to 156db.. which is.. ok. One thing you must know about broadband mics is they are NOT as tight on accuracy as a mic calibrated to the precision of a Termlab. This is because they are not to be specifically used to measure individual frequencies. That's why they are called "broadband". They are suppose to be used to measure in ranges, not by frequency. If i'm not mistaken, Termlab doesn't actually sell an RTA that specifically measures individual frequencies. OP, i hope this fills in some gaps of info for you. Let us know the results of what you find. as far as I know that "linkbox" should be an external soundcard with usb connection to get the same readings on every computer regardless, and with broadband all that came to my mind was a broad band (like 15Hz to 50KHz for instance) but I could be entirely wrong on both accounts , radioshack is non existant where I come from so dont worry about that , and my single pair of AA carbon mids are not going to hit 156 on a mear 100 watts per driver .... the first thing that comes to my mind is that voltage drops too low and the amp in its turn turns of and seconds later turns back on again because voltage has risen and so on and so on ..........

really thought one of the 20,000 members would have the answer . so a bump to obtain an aswer ! tomorrow I'm gonna try the imprint stuff on the EQ and since we're at it , see if Termlab finds the KTX if I plug it in the laptop .
