I got a little bit of time to do a few things on the enclosure today. Notice the dead pine tree is now gone, and yes........the grass got cut too! (for those who were concerned...LOL) Time to play with the screamin' router!!! I'll do the other one tomorrow, and try to get all the internal bracing done.
  2. Once that port is painted she's gonna look nuts!

It's fertilized with mdf dust, that's why it's so green. Just wait till you see it when it's mowed!
  4. drill before, the holes are there for aid in the air pockets rising to the surface when filling with F/G resin. Thumpper, I like how you're using wider ports now on some enclosures. It's a little harder to handle when putting it in the enclosure (I know) but it looks so damn cool!!!

Well, I decided to finish the most time consuming panel, the last flared port wall. I only got to cut everything and shape it for tonight. Hopefully I'll get some more time in the next few days, the weather is supposed to start to clear! I almost have a gallon bucket of some good dust so far. That's just what I've bothered to save for filling screw holes!

I just got home from work, Checked the weather radar, it's nasty looking outside but radar is clear!!! Let's go cut some MDF!!!! It better not sprinkle when I'm out there, I'm flying solo on this install and this box is starting to get a lil' heavy! LOL Pix later!
  8. Isn't that fun!!! It has to be one of the worst stages of a good install, when you start sticking mat....... I always get the crap all over me, stuck on the bottom of my shoes,ect... LOL Looks good though man!
  9. Nice stuff there!

Right? I have been trying to guess what it will look like done. Bring that thing inside to the kitchen table and get it done already. LMAO! I tried! the ole' lady put the nix on that as soon as it came out of my mouth! LOL I watched the radar all day....(the race too) and I couldn't catch a break long enough to setting up the horses... I'm itching to get this done. I haven't even had the H/U on since my old H/o alt. crapped out 2 months after my last install. Plus I just picked up some Lexan for a detail to be shown later! It's already taken up 3 sheets and I need to get a fourth for the top, plus another gallon of F/G resin to coat the inside of the flares. NTM my dang windshield has a split across the bottom AGAIN!!!! This was off a salt truck this past winter.....

I just started on the new design for my build. There's a few new details like new stainless accents, completely new enclosure design, and a new Mechman H/O alternator. Here's a few pix of what I've done so far: New bracket to hold the inline fuse under the hood. (10ga. 304 stainless steel) New front battery top strap. (10ga. 304 stainless steel) This could only mean one thing............. Common chamber for 2~15" Icon D1 - 8cf. @ 27hz I'll keep chugging away (weather permitting) and snappin' pix as I go. It's supposed to rain all weekend here so very little will happen in the next few days. The alternator should be here next week sometime.
  14. It's there for structure as well as looks. You cut one/two holes out of the mounting surface which weakens the panel like others have said. Doubling or even tripling the mounting panel will help out mostly when the subs are moving. With the Xmax of subs in the market today you need all the bracing you can get.
  15. I got this funny as story/e-mail yesterday, it had me in tears I was laughing so hard at this guy's testimonial... I had to share this with you guys too. It's a little long but worth every minute. A guy who purchased his lovely wife a pocket Tazer for their anniversary submitted this: Last weekend I saw something at Larry's Pistol & Pawn Shop that sparked my interest. The occasion was our 15th anniversary and I was looking for a little something extra for my wife Julie. What I came across was a 100,000-volt, pocket/purse-sized Tazer. The effects of the Tazer were supposed to be short lived, with no long term adverse affect on your assailant, allowing her adequate time to retreat to safety....?? WAY TOO COOL! I bought the device and brought it home.. I loaded two AAA batteries in the darn thing and pushed the button. Nothing! I was disappointed. I learned, however, that if I pushed the button and pressed it against a metal surface at the same time, I'd get the blue arc of electricity darting back and forth between the prongs. AWESOME!!! Unfortunately, I have yet to explain to Julie what that burn spot is on the face of her microwave. Okay, so I was home alone with this new toy, thinking to myself that it couldn't be all that bad with only two AAA batteries, right? There I sat in my recliner, my cat Gracie looking on intently (trusting little soul) while I was reading the directions and thinking that I really needed to try this thing out on a flesh & blood moving target. I must admit I thought about zapping Gracie (for a fraction of a second) and then thought better of it. She is such a sweet cat. But, if I was going to give this thing to my wife to protect herself against a mugger, I did want some assurance that it would work as advertised. Am I wrong? So, there I sat in a pair of shorts and a tank top with my reading glasses perched delicately on the bridge of my nose, directions in one hand, and Tazer in another. The directions said that a one-second burst would shock and disorient your assailant; a two-second burst was supposed to cause muscle spasms and a major loss of bodily control; and a three-second burst would purportedly make your assailant flop on the ground like a fish out of water. Any burst longer than three seconds would be wasting the batteries. All the while I'm looking at this little device measuring about 5" long, less than 3/4 inch in circumference (loaded with two itsy, bitsy AAA batteries); pretty cute really, and thinking to myself, 'no possible way!' What happened next is almost beyond description, but I'll do my best. I'm sitting there alone, Gracie looking on with her head cocked to one side so as to say, 'Don't do it stupid,' reasoning that a one second burst from such a tiny lil ole thing couldn't hurt all that bad.. I decided to give myself a one second burst just for heck of it. I touched the prongs to my naked thigh, pushed the button, and... HOLY MOTHER OF GOD. WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. WHAT THE... !!! I'm pretty sure Hulk Hogan ran in through the side door, picked me up in the recliner, then body slammed us both on the carpet, over and over and over again. I vaguely recall waking up on my side in the fetal position, with tears in my eyes, body soaking wet, both nipples on fire, testicles nowhere to be found, with my left arm tucked under my body in the oddest position, and tingling in my legs! The cat was making meowing sounds I had never heard before, clinging to a picture frame hanging above the fireplace, obviously in an attempt to avoid getting slammed by my body flopping all over the living room. Note: If you ever feel compelled to 'mug' yourself with a Tazer, one note of caution: there is NO such thing as a one second burst when you zap yourself! You will not let go of that thing until it is dislodged from your hand by a violent thrashing about on the floor! A three second burst would be considered conservative! A minute or so later (I can't be sure, as time was a relative thing at that point), I collected my wits (what little I had left), sat up and surveyed the landscape. My bent reading glasses were on the mantel of the fireplace.. The recliner was upside down and about 8 feet or so from where it originally was. My triceps, right thigh and both nipples were still twitching. My face felt like it had been shot up with Novocain, and my bottom lip weighed 88 lbs. I had no control over the drooling. Apparently I had crapped in my shorts, but was too numb to know for sure, and my sense of smell was gone. I saw a faint smoke cloud above my head, which I believe came from my hair. I'm still looking for my testicles and I'm offering a significant reward for their safe return! PS: My wife can't stop laughing about my experience, loved the gift and now regularly threatens me with it! If you think education is difficult, try being stupid
  16. I like #5..... It's clean & to the point and the image won't be hard to screen print. Maybe reverse the black & white though.
  17. Yep it's basically making your own wood putty. It's the same stuff you'd buy in a store, just made by you. And it's free, you make tons of dust when cutting MDF. As far as mixing it, it's like making a paste. Start off with a small amount of glue on a pile of dust then keep adding more glue until you get the consistency desired. Don't mix up too much b/c the stuff sets up rather quick and will be hard as nails!
  18. All silicone and pretty much anything that uses a "alcohol thinner or other chemical thinner" that is used to make the product soft and easy to work with. The vapor weakens the glues and also breaks down some of the materials that can be used when a subwoofer is built. It's kinda like playing Russian Roulette with your subs, it may effect them, and it may not. You'll never know it has until it's too late.
