  1. Never broke in subs and never got a smell either, you have to be doing something wrong to get the same results for 4 different subs. Amp gain is not a volume knob, it's their to match the preout voltage of headunit.
  2. Box being too big could be the problem as well as amplifier settings. I know DC loves smaller than the norm enclosures.
  3. I would email Fi for sure for a recone.
  4. More more more, I follow this build on two forums.
  5. I know Eric said the Silver Flute 8s can pair well with horns, not as efficiet as pa speakers but makes up for it in bandwidth.
  6. Happy Belated Birthday Aaron, hope you enjoyed it.
  7. Site has been down it seems like forever, glad to hear they're still around.
  8. Depends on ohm load of speakers. You can run more 8 ohm drivers than you can 4 ohm drivers.
  9. Good shit man, that's why we say it's all in the install. A couple bad components in an install could rob you of performance.
  10. I want to know how it sounds, glad to see you back here.
  11. I would just unplug the rears and leave them their, put that money elsewhere. Unless you plan on glassing your front doors and doing a pair of evil mids, just a thought. Or start with one in the factory location and see if that suffices.
  12. They both are HDS300 series subwoofer, apparently they upgraded recently. The top picture is version #2 and the bottom picture is version #1, the original model. As far as differences dont really know so cant help there.
  13. Yeah the Evils are pretty damn good and I was skeptical at first with it's specs vs other drivers I have used. When I first installed my one Evil to do some testing, I also installed a used Pioneer double-din that I got from my cousin. The midbass alone is what stood out to me, for some reason it seemed like I had subs again. Come to find out that my cousin had a customize preset set on Performance on the EQ and it didnt reset when I isntalled the h\u. It just showed me the potential of these drivers. Since I have very efficient and loud tweeters, I dont need my mids to play that loud or into higher frequencies. Just midrange output, the Eminence wins. But output over a larger bandwith without sacrficing the tonal sound and clear midrange, the Evil wins. I also read up on facebook, where SSA posted about a guy doing a swap from his PRVs to Evils and loved them. Yes with the 80PRS you have great processing, so need to worry there.
  14. So far in my current testing, driver door has Eminence Alpha-6c and passenger door has SSA Evil. Im enjoying the passenger door more and more everyday. Yes the Eminence is louder but sound quality wise the Evil wins hands down and I've been using Eminence drivers for 10 years and love them. The Evils are also upgrades over my Silverflutes and SB Acoustics drivers I've tried lately.
  15. Wrong section and no joining just to sell equipment. But
  16. Sucks about the sub, i know how annoying tinsel slap can be.
  17. Im glad you kept with it If you wall it, what will be your plans?
  18. Same amp I used on a Icon 15 last year, loved it.
  19. Sucks to hear, but you will bounce back.
  20. Damn man didnt expect this outcome, hopefully something works out for ya.
  21. I would love to see safer packaging protection for y'all Evil midbass speakers, just received mine in the mail. Mine was just sliding around in the box, Evil box is partially beat up. Ill take having to clean up packaging peanuts rather than just paper placed in there, or at least more paper to keep the contents in place. Thanks
