  1. Thanks. The only things available on Fi site are recone and basket, but I did not know if it was enough Is it hard to change the basket ? Do I need special tools ? I have no idea and I want to tell the "builder" how to do it right , if he ever has questions before he starts.
  2. Hi all, I have a BTL n2 12" actually, and I love it. but I want more now ! I was thinking of reconing it to a 15" sub. Can you tell me what I need to buy from Fi, of course ? Recone kit, basket ? Is it hard to do ? Can I find a tutorial here or elsewhere (I'll try Google !). I won't do it myself as I am not very familiar with speaker recones and tools, and ...anything !!! a friend of mine will do it, but I want to know some things before. I already have a design for a good box. It must be around 3-3.5 ft3 net @ 32 Hz ! Thanks in advance for your help.

  4. How many subs in the 4th cu ft box ?
  5. Congratulations for the baby. And nice equipments you have !
  6. They still sell those ? I've always thought it was good for songs without good bass notes ! Like old rock music, spanish music, old recordings,... It can destroy your sub faaast on bass music ! I would not want to use that in my car. I'm too afraid to break something. But a lot of people love those units and use them. Wait for some more info, as I'm not a specialist at all
  7. Give the dimensions of the bigger box you can fit in the trunk. And we will see what you can do, even with those same subs. Little changes in enclosures can make big changes in sound and output. Like it has been said, your current subs should handle that power easily. Something must be wrong in your settings ssf, gain, LPF. Where and how are they set all ? With the max dim you could find a box designer here who will help you right.
  8. Your "sentences" are...long ! How can your 800 w amp produce 900 w ? There is something I don't understand : maybe it's because I'm not English ?!!! What subs do you have for now ? And what amp too ?
  9. He already has 2 2000w amps. So he will not double the power with one DD Z1 or SAZ 3500. There is no more saz 4500, only used ones. Try the NS-1 if you want ! you should link the 2 amps if you have a problem with adjusting both gains. With 2 amps linked you will only have to adjust ONE amp : the master one. The second one, the slave won't need any tuning. Keep your amps. they are not bad, and if they work fine, you're fine !!! If you want moreoutput, work on the electrical, an efficient box, deadening (?), ...etc
  10. Yes he's back, and taking good care of customers, even those overseas
  11. Maths nerds because they know how to calculate cone areas ? smh..... To the OP : maybe you need to find another box builder,
  12. sorry for thread jacking u guys. but quick question. what parts come in a recone? All the soft parts and the VC : I've always saw the recone kits in just one piece. Use google / pictures or take a look at the store pics, maybe.
  13. I've never listened to a super tweeter that sounded nice. Were they all in bad installs or what ? I don't know. Don't listen to the youngsters loving the super tweeters and the cheap "pro audio drivers" : it's a matter of references. Did they ever listened to a good home stereo system in their lifes, or only mp3's on shitty headphones ? I'd like to try an active setup someday, but it is much easier (for me) with a passive component set. Good luck OP !
  14. I would do 4 ft3 net volume, to be safe : you'll love it ! You want spl but you tune so low ? I don't know anything in spl, but I thought it would be better to tune higher for this goal. I think you can find cheap external ssf to plug into the rca on the amplifier. 5.5 is huge !!! Unless it is an 18" sub.
  15. I'm still waiting for an invoice from them. They receive dozens of emails everyday. I understand it's not easy, but... Hopefully they make very good products !
  16. I loved all the setups I've heared with Xcons. But if you already have the 2 W6, it would be cheaper to just build a good ported box for them. If you want to change your system, you could always sell the W6 witht the new box easily. Big advantage of running JL in the USA : people know them and love them ! If I had the choice I would take the Xcon for sure ! More power, more output, ...etc RAM design and DC creation ( is it the right name ?) sell box designs. They are members here. Try to contact them before you build anything. Designs are cheap and you know you won't mess anything.
  17. Why do you need to tune so low ? 27 Hz ? I'd do 32, or 30 at minimum. It leaves you with more volume for the sub. I rather have a bigger box and a "higher" tuning than a smaller box with a very low tuning. I may be wrong, but it's my personal opinion ! Be patient ! All Fi subs I've listened to are really great. They're loud, clean, accurate, and go low if you want them to !
  18. A friend of mine almost cried when I told him he might order the very last N2 !!! He loves it so much. We are waiting for an invoice for his secong 15" ! And for a NS-1 !!! He works in the pro audio world and knows his business. I love my N2 12". Maybe I'll recone it in a 15" someday if it is still possible. In my country, we have small cars, so the weight is an important factor to choose a sub. We will miss the BTL N2 :(
  19. $250 is expensive for an Alpine amp ? Stop buying POS amp !!! Hifonics amps are popular because they are cheap, not because they are the best !!!
  20. I'd love a ZED amp for my speakers !!! 4 ?! That is a lot of tweeters : 2 should be enough !
  21. I did it. Crossing fingers for now !!!
  22. I'd get the 15" sub. But I can't say the 18 won't work. Good luck OP from Israel !
  23. Honnesty is not so rare these days. Good move, OP ! The real customer will ask for his item some day, and with the internet and mail services they can always find a pakage if they work for that seriously !!! (I hope so). You can't loose when you do right. Not in the long term.
  24. Schoolboy, you should do your homeworks first. And then learn about audio, AND come back when you're older, or richer to afford good equipments. What a waste of time. smh..... Big John : don't bother yourself with that little schoolboy !
  25. 2 months ? Bad luck. Hope you'll find answers.
