Need help 2 12s
X2 So many uneducated people are ready to bash anything that can't be bought at major stores like Best Buy. If your friend has no direct, hands on experience with those subs then tell him to STFU, plain and simple. You've got yourself the deal of a lifetime getting those handed to you like that. Even if they were only 187's you'd still have a very nice set of subs. Do yourself a favor, listen to the tips you get here. Save some money, buy yourself a good quality amp to drive those with, upgrade your electrical accordingly, build or have built an enclosure that matches the manufacturers specs and enjoy blowin' your friends out of the water, lol. Oh, and to the Forum!

box for 2 Fi Q 12's
First of all, there's nothing wrong with a common chamber. However, is that 4cuft with or without the sub and port displacements figured? If it's without, you'll have less than 4cuft once the sub and port displacements are accounted for and you'll most likely be right at the bottom end of what's recommended for them.

Dumb shit people say
Ha, got that same thing tossed at me the other day when showing the van off to a couple of my lil bro's friends. Dumb kids thought their's had to be better just cuz it made their cars sound like ball bearings inside a 1 gallon paint can in a shaker mixer. The looks on their faces when they sat inside were priceless though, not just at how loud, but how good and clean it sounded. Their moto "It's only loud if it makes the car rattle hard." The dumb quote I hear alot is "How good can that company really be, they don't sell it at the pawn shop. Those Power Acoustics they have look way meaner." OR "I like your box, but it looks way too big."

question about build
^^ This is the best way to do a box build inside the trunk. Without a good base to screw/nail to it probably just won't be as strong as it needs to be. Now, if it's for a low powered setup, maybe, but if you're running 1k or better I wouldn't trust the strength of the joint that tool provides. I've done a few in trunk builds, getting ready to do another for my 'lil bro and his 18" SSD in the trunk of an '08 Grand Prix and using something to reinforce the edges like the 2x2's will be now I'm doing his as well.

Big 3?
altoncustomtech replied to SMpaintball78's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / ElectricalThere should be PLENTY of room on the stud for another ring terminal.

Big 3?
altoncustomtech replied to SMpaintball78's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / ElectricalUpgrade it. Connect a wire from the post on the alt directly to the battery with a fuse in line to be safe. The factory wire goes to the fuse box first for the same reason I would imagine, for safety. I see plenty of people run the wire from the alt to the battery without a fuse, and while it works just fine, it's just not as safe to do. You're fine to go straight to the battery. Leave the factory wire on the alt as well and just put a fuse in the new one and you're golden.

+1 Feedback on TRP
I recently purchased a set of Bravox CS60K's from TRP. He's shipped them fast, had a tracking # in no time, they arrived in perfect shape and exactly as they were described. Can't ask for a better guy to deal with either and he answered my questions real fast too. to you bro, you're an awesome dude to deal with and I look forward to any future transactions we may have!

State of Hawaii trying to ban ALL aftermarket systems
Well, I submitted my opposal as well. I can't believe such crap could seriously become law anywhere. I don't know what anyone else was filling out in the comments, but this is the piece of my mind I gave them. If this would ever pass in my state the Fucker$ can kiss my ass.

Treo SSX
Wow, what a statement. Plan on selling that 15"?? PM me if you are.... Treo makes some real nice subs. I've personally experienced a few Treo setups around here and they were all pretty decent, seemed like they were all different series too. From my experience you'll like the results.

Alton's build log
Thanks Man!! The plexi is 3/4" thick and can be gotten from Delvie's Plastics along with the rest of their products for a quite impressive price from what I found anywhere else around the net. What I did with this was take a router and step the edge of the plexi all around it's perimeter, then cut out an MDF ring 2" wider and longer than the plexi with the same step in it where the plexi would fit inside it and the MDF ring and the plexi were nearly flush. Then I filled the step cuts in the plexi and MDF with some real good silicone adhesive/sealer. Once that dried (24hrs) I put glue on the MDF ring, a little more silicone around the face where the plexi and MDF meet and screwed the MDF ring to the face of the box. The hole in the face of the box where you see the plexi window is 2" shorter and narrower than the plexi window. That allows plenty of surface area for a seal and makes it virtually impossible to see the cuts/ring/sealant around the edges for a nice clean look. This is a VERY generic drawing of what I did with this, but I think it will help the idea of what I did get a little clearer. Hope all that helps!

Broken case on 250XP. New Design in the works?
I think you've got it figured out for certain.

Broken case on 250XP. New Design in the works?
Another item to keep in mind is the belt tension. Since the tensioner bracket is somewhat flimsier than the stock, the tighter you tighten the belt the more it will tend to pull on the bracket. A reworked case, gusset, whatever the steps taken to beef things up, the belt should still only be tight enough to prevent slippage.

WOW, that would be wild, and not horribly difficult. The box for the extra 4 could be designed around being removable with the amp staying attached to it. You could use connectors like THESE to make/break the power and ground connections, though it would probably be best to use a whole set of connectors for each wire considering the 175A rating, that way you'd have 350A capacity through them, but it's DEFINITELY do-able!! :morepower1:

depth of a sundown e8
Since the v1 E8's are discontinued, you probably need the mounting depth for the v2's, which is available HERE and is, according to Jacob 4-9/16" and yes, should be from the bottom of the mounting ring/flange/area to the bottom of the motor/magnet assembly.

5 to 10 MPH my A$$
This is pretty much what was going on with him. Turning a corner after leaving his buddies house, and to my eyes the marks in the snow/ice show he hit the curb at a about a 45 degree angle. When the front hit it swung the rear into the curb as well, but didn't cause any damage to it at all, luckily. He's been havin' woman troubles (3 of them) so I know for a fact he was driving pissed off, which is why I highly doubt the 5-10 estimate he gives. When he drives pissed off he could give any given nascar driver a run for their money, LOL. He's no mechanic, so I'll be the one having to do all the work to put the damn thing back together. He's going to owe me a VERY nice steak for workin' on the car and what I went through last night to load it onto a trailer, haul it home, then turn around and go pull his ~girlfriend's car out of the ditch she slid into on her way out to the house to see him. Last night was so much fun.
