Custom Box design: 10" Sound Qubed HDS210 in 1.8 cf @ 34Hz. Comments, critique & advice welcome.
You did a fine job sketching that up. Personally I would use more port area, it looks like it would be a bit noisy with that narrow a port. Otherwise my primary question is how you came to decide on the enclosure volume. I couldn't see the WinISD "charts" but I would like to hear your thoughts anyway.

Going active this time : how to protect the tweeters ?
That's awesome news! I'm glad to hear you are finally getting the response you were looking for. I'll say that honestly it takes some practice to learn how to tune an active system. Learning how to adjust the gains for tweeters is a tough one. It's not always easy to hear the stress before they pop. That's typically why we recommend starting with cheap(er) drivers when delving into the world of active processing. Woohoo for time alignment!! Best thing ever invented isn't it?!?! I love the way music sounds with time alignment, immersed in the sound almost as if you were there when it was being recorded. At least with well recorded music, I've been let down by some really great songs with horrible recordings. The more you play with your active setup the more songs you'll find too, unfortunately. I'm so glad to hear that your active setup is coming around to meeting your expectations!!

Forum rep system
LOL, hooray for hippy parents!! The rep system is what it is and such things can always be abused in some shape or form occasionally. I don't think there's any need to change it as it's not going to change the situations when conflict of some kind arises between members. While the forum isn't as busy as it used to be (I blame Facebook and other social media) everyone who's active here has a great passion for the hobby. That passion and (let's face it) a little bit of ego can make for a fiery combination. However if the name calling and such is left out of it with only facts leading it can turn into some fantastic discussion and debate. In all honesty Billy the ban hammer here mostly collects dust. The only thing it's ever used on is the spam bots. I've been a member for several years and can only remember one instance it was used on an actual member and it was definitely needed. There really wasn't any other choice. As for the comments about Mark and Steve, he doesn't have to agree with him to be friends with him. I would even venture to guess that they were friends or at least acquaintances before Steve got so popular and full of himself. Thats just my .02 for what it's worth.

What do you think about these specs for two ICON 12's
Personally, except for the port area being a little on the small side for my taste, I think the enclosure looks great. Well, for a single sub, are you planning on building two like that or one big box with separate chambers? 2.5cuft of volume per sub would be nice but that much for both would be WAY too small. If that's all the space you can afford to give the enclosure then doing a sealed enclosure should be your only course of action rather than trying to shoehorn them into an enclosure that's too small. The icons will definitely surprise you with their response in a sealed enclosure if that's the case. If not then you're going to have to give up more room for the enclosure.

SSA Forum members special on Evil6.5's
I'd love to be able to do that but without the proper equipment, location, and training I'm afraid anything I would measure would be fruitless and a waste of time.

SSA Forum members special on Evil6.5's
A proper review is coming. My brother in law and I are putting a pair through the paces right now. I can say they're an extremely competitive driver. Loads of output in a very tight and controlled package. We're having a LOT of fun playing with them!

How to tell if my subwoofer is clipping and/or going to overheat?
Yeah , I definitely missed who said it. I thought it was the op when I replied. As for the other stuff, I've seen a few others over the years try to prove him wrong. Some finally open their minds and understand, some just ignore him, and others get mad and leave. I'm just sitting on the sideline waiting to see which way it happens in this instance.

How to tell if my subwoofer is clipping and/or going to overheat?
No, the voltage isn't constant. It goes up and down with the volume and the audio signal that's being played. The 2v, 4v or whatever rated signal is the maximum rated output of the circuit.

L shaped slot port in box with angled back?
Yup, sounds about right. The software is accurate enough and you're likely using it correctly, finding a middle road capable of delivering you what you need with compromise in the right places is the key that experience will eventually get you. In a trunk port noise is harder to detect, so you can scrape by with less port area a bit easier if that's the case. Small enclosures are always harder to deal with when it comes to port design because of how much faster exponentially the port length grows as tuning is lowered or port area is increased. You may have to model and build a few different designs to learn for yourself and decide which compromises you can and can't live with.

Left tweeter seems to be dying, sounds weak
Awesome and solid advice right here.

Raising the stage above the dash
Of course, it's definitely the easier, quicker and more secure way to do it but when you don't have that option...

Raising the stage above the dash
I used to have such a switching device years ago. I used non-shorting double pole-double throw switches, hooked the amp/input wires to the common terminals, the wires going to the speakers on one set of the switched terminals and a set of wires that cross going from that set of terminals to the last. It's important they're non-shorting switches because when the switch is flipped from one position to the other it would cause a short to the amp for a moment. Under a bit of power that could cause the amp to go into protect or worse damage it. Otherwise it's a super handy tool!

HDC3.115
Why couldn't they be?? I've designed very successful enclosures for several members of the forum as well as dozens locally over the years and didn't charge a dime.

Can I get help checking brace work?
The opinion of others may vary but it looks like a beautifully constructed enclosure to me. That bracing should not be any issue at all with this being a sealed enclosure. I have seen comments where that style of bracing can affect output in a ported enclosure, which if true could possibly be an issue if one was intending to use it for SPL competition, but I can't imagine how it would be any issue ever in a sealed enclosure.

Crescendo bc5500 help
Sounds like bad grounds, very bad grounding issues.

Got some new SQ goodies for the new SPL Build.
Hell for the $400 price tag on the JL unit even the Soundstream Harmony/PPI 88R look like a better option and for half the price. They're a great DSP for beginners in my opinion.

Got Wood?
When you're building baffles for door speakers mass is your friend. Whichever material is heaviest would be the best material to use.

error message when clicking on username for profile?
Aaron I'd be all over those developers, they released some really buggy software and sold it to you guys. I've had issues with opening my own profile let alone others, searching members names, still have issues with changing the theme, double posts and/or PM's, opening the link to view recent/unread topics, searching some topics, and it seems like another issue or two that I can't think of at the moment. Previous versions never had these kinds of issues, it's gotta be aggravating to you guys.

PPI DSP-88r
I'm using two of the Soundstream Harmony DSP's which are the exact same unit but with the Soundstream badge on them. I personally love them. Though they lack a few features found in more powerful DSP's such as the miniDSP, but they're super user friendly, noise free and are a great first step into the realm of digital signal processors IMHO.
