No one answered the OP's question yet, because there isn't an answer that relates sound to any one characteristic. He asked: which actually has a pretty easy answer. The more travel you ask for in your driver the worse it will sound. This is less pronounced in a sub as Doppler distortion and such aren't so disturbing at low frequencies. But in essence the only general thing I can say about excursion is that the more you use the worse the response. If he actually meant extension (ie, frequency range) and not excursion (which it doesn't look like if you read the whole paragraph) then you could also make the generalization that the more extension the less possible output or less quality output across the same range. That is a more broad generalization though and taken out of context won't always apply.

An amp is stupid. It will play what you send to it, rather simple lol. Doesn't mean that there can't be things that don't work nice together as shit happens, but he already tried without and no pop. No. The w6 is a better sounding sub than the w7 period. At least in any install done by someone who has any clue on how to do it. The w7 is a niche sub and while just fine as a driver, is not something I would ever own again.

He already stated that with delay the amps don't make the noise. ie, it isn't the amps. Could be a combination of things, but on their own the amps don't do it. Not that you really need a switch, just unplug the remote wire from the amp and touch it when you want it on... I'd do that before calling NVX. If that makes it go away, you need to call on the H800 instead IMO.
