make sure you set you lpf no higher than 80hz... ssf should be around 0-3hz below tuning... and gain should be set appropriately.. no like half way type deal...

Over time, you just build a tolerance for it. Before the xcons, i had 2 btl's which had more output, but sounded like ass on anything other than rap. My planned front stage should be able to keep up and then some, so no problems there. The 2 i have now are dual 2's..1 more should bring me down to 1 ohm, correct? what is your "planned" front stage??? i'm curious and i will copy you ...

I couldn't see the need for it inside of a subwoofer enclosure but I guess if you generically apply the principle it seems like it could have a positive affect on it although I wouldn't try this myself.. Thank you for the explanation Jon...

Almost went with IA but really wanted a subwoofer that could handle great power in a sealed application with possibilities of porting it....

Does anybody know/think this would be able to mix well with a 15" XCON ported ??? Future plans if money permits is to port the XCON I have with about 1k on tap.... I'm def loving the pricing and specs look great so I was interested...

eggy.. car looks hot... and ricey... but I like it... Anyway, isn't 3 -12" too much? I'm on 1 15" and it's like DAYUM! in my Camry.... Have to lower gain on sub amp and on HU to get a match at higher volumes... part of it could be my front stage is weak but either way... 3 -12" XCONS sounds ridiculously insane of an idea.... Stick with the 2 and see if ported sealed could fit like ulrisa had in his Volvo..... check out his build log HERE

So I've had my setup for a bit now... I am currently powering my front stage with a Boston Acoustics GT2-125 ... Sounds great and strong... Only issue is that when I set the gain between the 8v and 4v setting (closer to the 4v setting) the speakers seem to emit a static/hiss noise when paused or during quiet segments past the volume of 30 which I'm almost always at ... I've pretty much noticed if the amplifier gain setting is at 8v it is perfect but very very low.... Not sure if this has anything to do with it but I have this tweeter set in the dash and this 6x9 set in the doors ... So the amplifier is currently seeing a 2 ohm load.... Should I ditch that setup and get a decent 2-way component set ? Is the amplifier an issue or is it my particular choice/setup causing this hiss? Should I disconnect the tweeters and see what happens as far as the hissing noise? Just looking for some direction here....

umm... off topic but how are you listening to this setup? AFAIK 15yr olds cannot drive cars ... you sitting in the driveway bumping this system? lol
