It's insignificant to make any real difference... just assuming around 0.1 ft^3 or so.

If you want to impress your friends port them, tuned low :) Should still sound quite good.

good stuff...so a box roudn 3.5-4.2 cu ft at 28-32hz wuld be sufficient for the SD-1(2 12s)...correct?

Yessir, correct.

I ran the Thiele/Small specs thru the Efficiency Bandwidth Product (EBP) formula...and got a number of 49.0566...which is actually in the range of suited best for sealed, but right on the borderline for being a flexible enclosure sub.

Fs/Qes

i think ill try it in a

4 cu ft. ported tuned to 30hz

http://www.subwoofertools.com/forum/ported...mp;Fs=&CE=0

and

this sealed 2.5 cu ft enclosure w/polyfill(about 2-3 pound per side)

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cf...tnumber=260-648

and keep the one that sounds best to my ear

Yep, it is a very good sealed / IB sub -- but will work ported if you like :) Exactly.

idk about u guys but these drives look ALOT like the early mid 90s(especially round 93-98) kicker comps...

whats funny about that is that i have a pair of kicker comp 10s from the mid 90s sittin upstairs in my room in a 2ft^3 box...them bad boys are old but stil rockin and are pretty tight...people used to think my dad had 2 12s....they only ran off of 100 watts a piece but took it like champs!

They look like the old Comps because they are made at the same factory that Kicker and JL Audio used to use.

thats crazy...but that means its quality stuff...as my comps still work and sound good!

Yup, they make very high quality stuff... built to last 10+ years. I've toured the factory years ago, which is why I have decided to work with them on some of my woofers -- I really like how they do things.

Why not name the new sub that is in production the SD-2? Less confusing. ;)
