well jus like the title says ..my amp is going into protect.. i was doing some runs on the TL and it suddenly started going into protect...i checked the speaker and it reads 2.3 ohms and is a d4 on parallel....what could it be??

2 batts one of em an optima g31, 110amp alt...voltage doesnt go bellow 13.1

okkk gotta check the remote cable on THE radio i think its loose...it weird that it is the only amp that goes into protect...the other amp doesnt...

Unhook the RCAs and the speaker wires and see if it goes into protection.

If so, then check the remote lead.

Why do you suspect the remote lead touched metal?

well its not the remote checket it ands it doesnt toch metal or anything...it only seems to go into protect in the 52 hz tone...took the rcas of and it stayed out of protect but put them in again and it went into protect ocassionally

Sounds like an RCA related issue.

What head unit do you have?

RCA cable type? Pictures of them?

The RCA cable could also be pinched somewhere and shorting together, try another cable.

my HU is a piece of crap blaupunkt lol ill see if i find pics of it but im gonna throw it in the garbage soon and gonna get an alpine one...also the rca's are dblink...ill take a picture of em tomorrow if i can but let me get you some pics of the HU

those are my rcas supposedly they are competition grade or some chit like that lol but w/e i think it might be the radio since it stopped working on saturday and it came back 2 life yesterday :S

Those look like "walmart grade", not competition grade.

I'm guessing if your HU is malfunctioning that has something to do with it :)

Could be any of those things. The 1500D will protect from issues on the RCA input as well as many other things to prevent itself from being damaged.

okk i was getting a normal sine wave on the o-scope and the signal wasnt even clipping at the vol where the amp goes to protect but its getting really weird cuz when i was testing w/ the o-scope the amp kept going into protect after i finished testing i hooked the same rcas and it worked fine...
