so i see the nightshade is rated for 1500wrms, now seriously what would a nightshade do with 1500wrms would it acutally be enough power for one? im asking cause i only have 1400wrms and was looking at the dc lv4 but if the nightshade only needs 1500wrms i might consider one.

you dont have to hit it with the full rms its capable of..and to be honest you wouldnt be able to tell the difference between 1400 and 1500 by ear that is.

i was talking about if 1400 will be enough, since i assume that the nighshade is very high power handling sub 1400 wouldn't be enough. for example take the re xxx, sure 1400 will make it move and produce sound but is nowhere near enough power to show what it can really do.

The 15" Nightshade that we put in my friend's Bronco plays music consistently in the 140s with 1500 watts on tap :)

This is with a box not made specifically for the sub or the vehicle -- basically a test run.

this is completly therorectical, but do you think that with 1400wrms, a box from hexibase, and a 12 nightshade in a grand am trunk could pull 140 or better on music? i know no one can give me a "true" answer but does it have the capibilitys to achieve this goal.

I don't see why not in the right box -- it will be more difficult from a trunk, but Pete has been known to work some magic. I imagine you would need to modify the rear deck at least slightly to allow the pressure into the cabin better.

the seats fold down in GA so that will help greatly and i allready have taken out the rear 6x9's since my atlas allready destroyed the cone on one.

With Pete's box design and folded down seats it is quite possible to achieve 140s.

I have a L shaped Horn that Pete designed for me and its loud..

Can't speak on what it does on the meter cuz I am yet to do that but hopefully once I get me a Nightshade I can throw some numbers out there..

cool please do when you get some.

With that much power you can easily break 140 with a 15" and a normal ported box

This is a vid of my old 2000 Grand AM GT 2 door

I have a 15" AQ HD3 on 1 Sundown 1500d

box fireing forward tuned to 32hz, did a 144.3 sealed at the dash

HD3 Flex

how did you fit that 15 in the trunk? in my GA the trunk is only 15inchs tall so theres no way i can have the sub fire forwards or back it has to fire at the trunk lid thats why i want a 12.

my box is 15.5 tall ( i also have maybe another inch if i really wanted it) its a 99 grand am my setup before this one was one fi bl off a sundown 1500 and it did a 143.5 on the tl at 35 hz. Cars accually get pretty loud for trunk cars just take some time and if you want to push it to the extreme a saw and hammer like i did to "modify". O if you take the plastic off the opening it gives you about two more inches to slide the ox in then take the rear seats out just clips and u can slide a box in no problems just gotta watch the width i made mine about an inch to big so had to make it fit. The plastic piece will clip back in once you have a box slid in and wont affect anything as long as u have the box a few inchs back.

damnn, what exactly did you have to modify? on mine theres this little plastic cover thing then the rear deck. did you have to cut the rear deck or just the plastic thing? i may end doing the exact same as you just im gonna switch the port to the other side since i useally just leave the small seat section folded down all the time with the big section folded up.

that plastic piece is just clips just pops out no need to cut if u make it 36-37 in wide but i made it 38 a btw it does about a half a db louder with that little seat up and the big one down. box is 5 cu ft. and barley fits in the trunk then i had to squeeze a powermaster 3100 back tere and a sundown 3000

Yea like he already said, you just take the plastic panel out and the back seats out. after that you will have some thin metal at the top, just take a hammer and bend it or you can cut it. If you do this you can fit a box 16" tall and 32-33" wide, or you can do like he said 15" tall and a little wider. by doing this you can fit a 4.5 to 5 cube box in there. My best setup I had in there was a 15" Memphis MOJO and a Sundown 3000D with 2 kinetik 2400's (not the most easy thing to fit back there w/ a 4.5 cu box). I did a 146.2 sealed at the dash with that setup

heres some more pics for you and i highly suggest the nightshade as Jacob puts out nothing but a solid product and always stands behind his stuff with support

nice box. so i went out and measured a few things and oticed that i can go 17tall but the box will have to be movd back about 3 inchs so its behind the lip of the seat latchs, but how hard would that be to get thru the trunk? theres no way i can go through the seats since the lip is only 15 tall i'd have to bend it atleast 2inchs. im thinkin go 16.5 tall, fire the sub foward at the big section of seat then have te port fireing forward at the small section would that work good or should i do it differently?

not a chance in you know what to get it through the trunk its so narrow the opening whatever you do has to go in through the backseats also take the seats out youll be able to gain some room may have to bend a little but not 2 inchs well shouldnt be two inchs

damn, i really don't wanna take the seats out since this box will be only temp for the atlas till i can save some dough then im gonna upgrade to a single 12. how hard is it to get a box thru the door with the rear seats still in? im thinking something around 13-h 35-w 20-d using 2 4inch ports tuned to 32hz only the sub will have to fire up and the port to the side, but it should get louder than my sealed box i have now.
