Posted October 19, 200816 yr what are the duty cycle rattings on the saz1500d ?and at what wattage are they 100% duty cycle ? thanks
October 19, 200816 yr What do you mean by duty cycle? They do full rated power (1500WRMS @1ohm) @12.8v and more at higher voltages.
October 20, 200816 yr Author so i could play a 50hz test toneat 1500 watts rmsnon stop for 24 hrwithout any damage , excess wear or tear or over heating ?that would be 100% duty cycle.if it could only do that for 1 min on 1min off 1 min on 1min off ect.........then it would be 50% duty cycle.if it could only do that fo 1 min on 3 min off 1 min on 3 min off ect ......then that would be 25% duty cycleand just because it puts out more than 1500 watts doesn't mean that it can do it at 100% duty cycle.it might only be able to put out 1000 watts at 100 % duty cycle.or what ever it is.i'm sure sundown already tested this and has average numbers for theese amps.i have a feeling that it is 100% duty cycle at full unclipped powerbut wanted to know for sure.i don't use all 1500 watts and have never been able to get mine above room temp.
October 20, 200816 yr Audio amps are usually rated for continuous operation - you hear about duty cycle all day long for rating RF amplifiers, because the transmitter isn't actually modulating the input 100% of the time in some modes, but it isn't a commonly used term for audio amps.
October 20, 200816 yr Author thanks RIckRolled for the responsei actualy come from a rf backgroundi bet that your correct about sundown having 100% duty cycleeven though i dont use mine anywhere near full power or for any real amount of time at oncea time could come up that it could happen and if i know that it is rated for it i would have no problem doing it.but if it is not 100% duty rated then i have no problem staying within specall my setups are set with an o-scope and then turnd down to where i want to hear it.i buy sundown products not because they are under rated but because they are over built.
October 20, 200816 yr Nobody has thermal issues with 1500s that I'm aware of... especially not with the new heat-sinks.
October 21, 200816 yr why does it say rick-rolled when i typed jim-jHe's got a filter thingy on it, I believe Mark put it on for him.

Unless you are going with RF's Type RF stuff, you'll find that Sundown is a much beefier product. The 1500d is pretty heavy. In fact, it weighed and little more than my US Amps USA-2000x.
October 21, 200816 yr i ran to austin today pounding on the hwy for 30 mins there... 30 mins back.... no problem. the other night i ran hard for almost 2 hours non stop

October 21, 200816 yr Author oh I'm not worried about it taking the abuse playing musicmusic has a very short duty cycle built in already and i'm old in comparison to alot of you so i can only handle so muchnot that my system doesn't rock but i can't handle that all day. <i gota be able to see staight to drive>but i am an e-tech and just wanted to know the specs on duty cycle.and i'm weird, a day could come that i might want to dump 1500 rms at 30 hz for a day, and have nothing to do with car audio or music. rf = radio freq , like comunicationsi hoped it was just a filter thing thats why i put the - in jim-j the second time.just noticed the alteration of my post.now for you guys that wang full tilt for an hour or more do your amp even get warm or hot ?
