I ran my system for a couple hours last night, at pretty decent volume, and didn't even drop below 11.5V lol

PDX's are efficient bastards.

Were they hot at all ?

Ive been wanting to get some but the passive cooling on them doesnt look like its all that great.

Hot? Depends on how hot is hot to you. Shut off? Nope. An efficient heatsink design should get warm... that is the purpose.

Is it bad I'd like a second job working a part time night shift welding?

Basically what I do is class, work, homework, then drink beer... I'd kinda like something to fill my extra time and make some money from like 10-2 when all I'm doing is killing time and drinking beer.

you building a submarine?

yellow?

Is their really any other color?

New job is working with UUV's (underwater unmanned vehicles), and I am tasked out to track down some major components. All of which have a great deal of limiting factors that are hard to meet so far.

Sounds like a pretty cool project.

I've tossed around building small MT or MTM speakers (passive 2-way designs) and selling them. The hardest part of them would be the crossovers, the woodworking aspect is easy. I'd make them out of MDF and then a cherry or Birdseye maple veneer and voila, an attractive looking box.

*Actually, I think the hardest part would be selling them, not sure how big the market is for something like this*

if you've got the stregth to do it, then you shouldn't give it too much thought

My winter audio project will be Fostex wideband drivers & rear loaded horns enclosure.

i'm looking for someone to buy my old 3 way towers for ~ 1 year. not sure how the market is there, but over here people want "all-in-one-box" sound systems :(

How much should I be charging for enclosure building? After this weekend, I've had at least 3 inquiries.

haha

Deadener is only mass loading. Not a very good decoupler. At the very least, some high density or closed cell foam would work.

BTW, I haven't used any decoupler material yet for my drivers. Might be a good idea to pull the mids & throw something on the frame sometime though.

have any of you guys read a book called Fahrenheit 451? It's a good book, I'm having to read it for english and was only suppose to read to page 69 but I'm on page 161 and almost done with it, hahahaha.

Ideally, like Sean has. Between the ring & its mount point as well as between the ring & the driver mount point.

Also, would be really slick to tap holes into the ring for mounting.

Read it back in Grade 9 for English class.

so clay at all the contact points :)

what got me confused is that when i tighten the ring won't the clay come out ?

that's going to depend on what material the guy at the shop has. it will be easier to secure the ring / rings to the panel with some countersunk bolts and then tap the mounting holes for the driver :D

lol I'm reading it for Freshman English II in college, hahahahaha. Actually I think I just finished the book, it's talking about the author now. Kind of an interesting ending.
