Build something from a known builder instead.

i was looking for ideas on replacement speakers that were equivalent to those in the old setup or i may just recone them and see what happens

Recone or build something else, you cannot just replace the drivers and get good results.

So I'm stuck to searching for stuff here :(

And I refuse to ask the people here for more recomendations (sp?).

pro gear regularly has switches to go from 110 to 220

:D

That means I can get a Crown or QSC to use for sub duties far cheaper.

Just make sure it has a switch before buying...not all of them do.

so i cant really find speakers that will match up right. so i guess i will re cone them and see how that does. cuz i dont wanna build anything. i just wanna make them work again lol and i guess reconing will have to work cuz it looks like matching new speakers to those specs is goin to be sort of difficult.

Speakers to the enclosure no problem, speakers to the crossover is a huge problem. It isn't just slope and crossover point in a crossover. Impedance levelling, attenuation circuits just don't work with different drivers.

Hello Mr Moyer.

700MHz what?

The FCC's apparently finally starting to auction off the bandwidth occupied by analog UHF TV right now...

does that mean we won't be able to get TV through the air anymore?

Older TV's will need a converter, but yeah, you can still get free TV from an antenna.

I was going to go into a rant about little kiddies wanting to bargin below a great sale price and then saying they can get it somewhere else cheaper because they think their boy can get it direct, but f'it.

We won't see OTA TV signals disappear in our lifetime. The FCC even mandated that all signals be digital HD by the end of 08 right?

Yeah all television broadcasts will be digital as of February 17, 2009. Starting last year all new tv sets that can receive signals over-the-air had to have a digital tuner to be sold in the US. Canada isn't switching off analog until 2011 and Mexico isn't shutting off until 2022.

99% of Canada will be digital by the end of 09... they just tend to put off deadlines much later for the "community" stations that can't afford new technology.

Watching Federer is something else...he's got great court coverage with significantly less effort than Connors and his forehand might be one of the best in the game. He's impressively fluid...no wonder he's been #1 for 200+ weeks.

i have a crazy idea for a sub in the fiero, would be completely hidden and 100% up-front bass. i just gotta get back home and see if it's possible.

:dancing:

1911 stuff gets here tomorrow

and i should add that the 'smith has offered to stop by and pick up the gun (he lives ~1hr away). said he might be traveling through here so he'd just stop by and save me the trip.

Maggies are sold, and to a friend locally.

Now I can try the 60-inchers...;)
