good ole Glenn Beck

He is a top contender for most pitiful republican.

Bad news, another pricey break on the 528i. Wifey is dead set on a newer vehicle as we have put a good chunk of money into this car in the last two years. :(

what this time?

You have had some bad fucking luck with that car, unbelievable actually.

On a similar note, I am spending another fucking $1k on the chevy. It is BY FAR the biggest POS I have ever owned. The second biggest was my last Chev. This is the last GM that will be anywhere near my family if I can help it. A new CTS-V was a front runner until this shit resurfaced as well. FUCK GM SHITSUCKAGE.

What went out?

Intake manifold gasket, wheel bearing, abs sensor, exhaust manifold bolts?!?!?!, belt tensioner for the air conditioning all this week. On top of that there is a major fuel problem which is hopefully not the fuel pump failing although I think it is. Hopefully the new filter will breath easier and at least let it live until the truck has a new owner.

I've spent more on parts for this truck than repairs for any other vehicle I have ever owned. Fucking ridiculous.

Wow. We have never had that sort of luck with any GM that we've owned.

Personally, I think he's just a shock jock that says this crap on purpose to get attention and money. I hope that's what it is, anyway. I mean, he calls himself a rodeo clown and all.

We've had gasket issues and its all because of that stupid Dex-Cool crap, it just eats gaskets and plastic parts. We just said to hell with it, flushed the cooling system real good and put in plain ole ethylene glycol and water

apparently Eibach is selling shocks to go along with their springs now? they look like Koni's?

and since we're on the subject of shocks, are monotubes that much better than twin tube? just wondering because most aftermarket "performance shocks" are twin tubes...like Koni's for instance...

so tell me why its the end of may and its raining in California... 140% normal rainfall and the coldest month of may in 40 years... I personally could go for some more Global Warming.

Global warming, local cooling

95 degrees here yesterday, you can keep your global warming haha.

Mkader and Sean. How do you guys think the dextrose/protein is working out? I know you haven't been pedaling without Sean, but do you feel it's working, do you feel like your gaining performance faster than you would without?

MKader were you pedaling without anything prior and how's it going now that you are drinking the PWO shake?

***************************************************************************************************************************

I thought I would let you guys know about my roomate. He was having trouble getting into shape. Was thinking about the marines but he can't run. Ribs and knees caused more pain than he could handle for much more than slow short runs. I helped him with his lifting rotation and diet etc and when he got into it, it worked well. Some pretty awesome gains have happened since though and I thought I would post it up. If for nothing else it's anecdotal but interesting, and maybe, pretty motivating.

I'm going to be working with roomate Sean as he has put on about 15 pounds of muscle and went from unable to bench his own weight to being 15% over it for reps now.

We just worked on his diet and work out strategy, and then added in the post work out drink. Pretty awesome results for him. I don't know about size of arm increase etc but it's pretty awesome for only 3-4 months of mild change in lifestyle and adding more protein and a post work out drink. He's getting into trying creatine now etc.

I'm going to see if I can cut his costs by switching him to a home brew dextrose and creatine mix and then protein too. By my math a home mix would be 20 times less expensive than the cheapest of premixed brand name post work out drink with creatine. I know you guys are in it for pedal performance but the basic nutrition is the same, just bit different ratios.

I notice one thing for sure. I've got gas :P

I really can't say whether it helps or not, but I don't get sore so that probably says something. I have been pushing my cadence and heart rate up lately, but also am a week removed from a > 1hr ride. Today I am going to put on some saddle time, but when I do I don't dare not have a post drink so I guess that in its own says something :)

That was two weeks worth of faults. The thing is a piece of shit. Amusingly I should know better it is par for the course for everyone I know with a mildly modern GM.

The list of problem we have had on our '04 3/4ton HD w/ the 6.0L

Charcoal evaporation filter on the fuel tank was clogged when we got it

Rebuilt the front end since it has had a hard life (ball joints, etc, etc)

No spare tire so we had to find a matching wheel to buy

Replaced the water pump

That is about it for problems we have had with that truck, and we have had it for 3 years now I think and use it like a truck.

We don't know how much road construction your area is being subjected to, but we're up to our necks in orange barrels and portable cement barriers. Apparently the government stimulus funds have converged onto our highways and boulevards in one summer, but a report by The New York Times shows that one key element could throw a wrench in the plans to overhaul our nation's infrastructure. It's not concrete or even heavy machinery. We're talking about the paint used to stripe the roads.

Yellow lines, white lines and dashes of both colors could be tough to come by due to a sudden shortage of a chemical compound called methyl methacrylate. The Associated General Contractors of America reportedly told federal transportation officials last week that the sudden scarcity of the paint has "very significant ramifications for completion of highway projects this summer."

Dow Construction Chemical is reportedly running into production problems this year and other chemical companies have cut back on making the striping paint due to the slow economy. Some states, including Texas, Washington and Ohio may be perilously running out of the paint just as the construction season starts to heat up, which could make already annoying traffic delays last even longer.

Among the short-term solutions being noodled are using more of the raised reflective buttons in place of the stripes and only painting the center lines and not the shoulder lines. Either way, this won't make construction season any easier.

Current issues (out side of a few others I have put on the back burner):

  • blown drivers side front shock (leaking fluid)
  • dead upper arm bushing
  • lower control arm bushing spent

I have pictures that I can post if need be. Chances are a recent model Accord will replace it if wifey gets what she wants, I think. When in good running order, the 528i was a wonderful car as a sum of its parts. Such a well engineered car top to bottom, just not durable enough for the daily driving my wife puts on it, or the stars aligned and a collective shit storm of parts all failed during these last couple of years of ownership. Technically, it is my car, but it is what she drives. Going to be sad to say good bye. :(

That was a lemon to begin with, get rid of it. Although don't expect any accord to be better.

She is set on a 2007+ Civic 4 door.

Eibach springs were on my Explorer, Bubbie's original Mounty, and my old Merkur. Were awesome for my needs.

This site is really getting huge, and it can be metaphorically almost lumbering in nature when doing code changes as it takes time to update and refresh/index pages. ;)

Oh they make great springs, I was just wondering about these "Pro-Damper" shocks they've started selling. They look like rebranded Koni's to me.
