rent to own is basically legalized loansharking...which is great if you want to open a business and have little in the way of ethics

Someone is Jelly.

not jelly, just pissed I have this annoying "integrity" thing

So if I buy an apartment with mortgage and rent it so I can pay for the mortgage, it's called loansharking ?

Technically that's called "being entrepreneurial" :P

I loves me some Kumhos...General and Michelin too...great truck tires

OK OK the kuhmos are kinda siped but the duratrac's are way way way more so if we want to call lug cuts siping.

I'm more familiar with siping when the way sandt mentioned. The guy at the tire shop basically called any cut in any lug a sipe. He said they could sipe the tires as sandt mentioned if I wanted. the duratrac's are also "extremeweather" rated. WTF ever that's worth. I do know however I can stud these bishes.... not that MN allows that but still.. :D

The story told on various websites is that, in the 1920s, Sipe worked in a slaughterhouse and grew tired of slipping on the wet floors. He found that cutting slits in the tread on the bottoms of his shoes provided better traction than the uncut tread.

Wiki says.

Discount tire has a good description of siping

Tire Siping - Discount Tire

My understanding is it is great in ice and wet weather conditions, although usually proponents of it don't discuss snow. I assume that is because it isn't really great in the snow.

I grew up in Buffalo NY, so I know snow, but I left years before siping became an option with tires. We used to do a lot of mudding down the old logging roads in southern NY. We had big old jacked up trucks with monster mudders and super swampers on them. These tires worked great, but in the snow they collected every bit of snow in the treads making them horrible to get around in the snow. I suspect sniping the tires today has a similar collecting affect. We found that by taking off the big mudders and sticking little cookie cutter car tires on the trucks we could get around better. We just used car M/S tires with great success... We even used to drive around and pull people out of ditches.

Playing around on Tire Rack is fun...for the E55, a new set of Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 ZP's are 1400, Dunlop SP Sport 01 DSST RunOnFlats are 1600, and Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 EMTs are 1900; sounds reasonable

Or, you know, get some sticky Z rated all seasons for around 800

To be honest I'm getting a kick out of this little Jeep Patriot Extreme from Mopar:

no-subject.jpg

2-inch Rocky Road Outfitters lift, 225-75R/16 BF Goodrich KM2 Mud Terrains, some skidplates, and some slush mats; not bad for a CUV/glorified station wagon/whatever they call them nowadays

Plenty of vids of this creature crawling all over Moab on YouTube, by the way

the fact they needed a 2" lift to fit 225-75/16's makes me laugh

If I had a D or F on my report card growing up I was bringing home a weekly report sheet signed by every teacher, and WORKING at my dads business from afternoon until quitting time. I then had a school desk at home in the spare room that I had to sit at and study until bed time.

May I ADD my dad works almost always 7 days a week and always has, I had to work atleast 50% of my free time as a kid ALSO Is how I developed work ethic. My Dad wasn't buying me SHIT.

IF I brought home better grades the next quarter, I could have my 50% freetime back.

Tire siping creates more Leading edge's on the tires treads, basicly like having ALOT of little treads.

Dayum, even the poo-Patriot has bigger tires than my XJ. I'm having a little tire size complex....

what size are they?

I'm only 265/70 17.

Only

I'm running 235/75 R15 and they rub at full lock. Need new control arms from a late model Grand Cherokee...

235/75 15 and 225/75 16 are basically the same height :peepwall:

The same thing could be said about Bree Olsen, yes?

Bree Olsen, Sasha Grey, Jenna Haze, Faye Reagan, Asa Akira, Jessica Bangkok, Zoe Britton, Nautica Thorn, Bobbi Star, Penny Flame...ok I'll stop now...

Fux I wanted to see a Germany - Netherlands final :(

Me too, once USA was knocked out, I was pro-Germany. Lived there for a little bit and have family friends there. Now I am not sure who I want to win for the finals, I don't dislike Netherlands, but I am not sure if I like them enough to win.
