P.S. I thought my jetta was the fastest sports car on the planet when I had that thing. VW is weird, and it the design appealed to me on that level.

Buy some snow tires and you'll be fine. My brother has a Lincoln LS (same chassis as the Mustang), and he prefers driving that in the snow over his old 4wd Explorer. A car with the proper rubber is a huge difference.
