About to start Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Are you sober? lol.

Yea, lol. Is it a bad movie or something? I've never seen it and everyone says it's pretty good so I figured I'd watch it.

LOOK MA, I'M A LUMBERJACK!!

Wood is frozen and looks to be a softwood of some sort. Pine, fir, or the like.

First thing I noticed was the frozen wood, then again looks like everything is frozen there.

You call using a log splitter a lumberjack's business ?

Poser :P

no room in the budget for a log splitter; had to make due with a splitting maul, sledgehammer and a tiny electric chainsaw :P

Ah, that's more like it :D

Just watch it and you'll understand why I asked lol.

The stuff I'm splitting, pecan, has a Janka Hardness of roughly ~1800. In layman's terms it takes roughly 1,800 pounds of force to drive a .444" diameter steel ball halfway into a piece of pecan wood.

For comparison's sake, Douglas Fir is ~660, Southern yellow pine (most dimensional lumber) is ~690, Mahogany is ~800, Red Oak is ~1290, White Ash (baseball bats) is ~1320, White Oak is ~1360, Bamboo is ~1380, Maple is ~1450, and Mesquite is ~2345.

the short version: this shit be hard, yo

There's a reason the handles of axes, sledgehammers, mauls, shovels, etc. are made of hickory (very close cousin of pecan, same Janka hardness) ;)

Yes I know my enemies

They're the teachers who taught me to fight me

Compromise, conformity, assimilation, submission

Ignorance, hypocrisy, brutality, the elite

That could be one of the top 10 greatest architectural things I have ever seen, and I work as a structural designer. ;)
