I don't want a truck. I want a car, but if it can tow my boat its a bonus. If it doesn't pull 13's in the quarter and hit 60 in under 6 AND be able to pull great skid numbers it isn't what I want.

Apparently I'm naive, but I always thought new plug wires was included in a tune up. How the hell does only changing the plugs cost like $160? Plugs cost 3 bucks. Somehow new plugs, wires, and serpentine belt comes out to $370 even though the parts cost 80 bucks in total and it can't take more than two hours to do all of it.

Now I'm really wishing I would have just braved the cold to change them myself. At least the belt. But some of the plugs are a bit hard to get to.

They did say the wires looked original though, and with 190k+ miles, I'm kinda surprised they've lasted this long. I asked for the parts back, so I can test the resistance of them to see if they've increased. What should normal resistance be? Will be interesting to see the spark plugs as I'm not sure if/when they've been changed before.

Anybody know anything about the MTX 6000 series 10" subs from 6-7 years ago? I got some for my dad way back then for his truck, but now we're taking them out and putting them in my little brother's car. I was going to make a ported box but I can't find any box recommendations or T/S specs online. MTX's site is apparently down.

You need to find a local place where it's only mexican guys. They will have one dude who speaks ~some~ english and the rest just work on cars. You can bring in your own online ordered parts and they will charge about 100 bucks for anything.

Here in the twin cities there are no better places to take your car. They know more practical knowledge about tune ups and basic repair than ever other tech who works in a chain shop combined. I wouldn't ask them to tune up an Enzo, but if my Ford pickup/SUV needs some love they will have that shiz done in 15 min and they might throw in a new transmission and some beans and rice on the way out for under 100 bucks.

That's what I thought. I'm not going to this shop anymore. It seems like a reputable place, it's a Goodyear dealer shop that also does all mechanic work, just like my dad's shop. Maybe I need to start taking it to a mechanic-only shop.

After seeing my bill, the biggest problem was not taking in my own parts. They gave me double platinum plugs @ 12 apiece and a $75 wire set. I don't think my Explorer needs that. $3 plugs and a $30 wire set probably would have been adequate. Labor for doing plugs and wires was 115. Coulda saved 40 bucks in labor by replacing the belt myself though.

My plugs definitely needed replaced though. Half of them had the electrode worn down all the way to a smooth nub barely above the insulator. I'm surprised some of them even fired.

If I remember right plugs and wires for my car are around 180$ in parts alone.

E34 M5 "body" and engine (and gearbox I think), tubular chassis, the owner wants to hit the 1000hp mark and 9 seconds in the quarter.
