I have flippers too. Try redwing shoes. I got could find 3E with them.

Yeah I guess I'll just have to go with steel toed Red Wings; 6500 looks like a good model

I am finding these steel toed sneakers interesting, though

Sean, since you brought up good mic's, are there any affordable alternatives that have a good repeatability ? I don't want to borrow a termlab all the time for testing and just need to know if a modification hurt the score or helped the score.

Affordable = in the $200 range

For what purpose?

For measuring the sound pressure level in the car, a replacement for the termlab which I'm using now.

Keep the termlab. There is no such thing as an affordable mic that will measure the levels you are describing. They'll start around $8k.

Then I'll have to keep borrowing it :)

Can't see myself spending more than $300 for such a thing when I can borrow it and only pay local shipping both ways.

What's it for? If it's for work you should get laces. Unless it's for casual/light duty then you really NEED laces. Even gardening IMHO.

ariat makes a great shoe/book.

I don't know if they get wide enough for the peng man and the flippers of doom though.

Agreed. The only slip ons that should be mentioned are good fitting cowboy style boots, and those don't look like it. Any work that will involve more than the upright position should have laces in my opinion.

I've never been a big fan of steel toe, never been in an environment where it would actually benefit me.

What kind of environment then, would be a steel toe be a benefit?

Yeah I definitely prefer laces for any shoe that exceeds ankle high

Red Wing 5553 looks good, even if it is black

Quite honestly I'm not sure. I've never felt the need for them. I've always done farm or shop work and never been in a situation where I've wanted them. I feel that if you think you are going to need steel toe shoes, your feet shouldn't be there anyway. Someone might want them in a situation where you were lifting heavy things and repeatedly set them on your foot to keep them off the ground might be a place where they were useful.

That is just my opinion though.

I'd want them driving around in an E55

I'd rather use 14 eye Doc Marten's and a leather motorcycle jacket for that, yo

Just got the paper work in the mail from the insurance company showing the cost of the knee surgery. Coming in just shy of $12k, I wonder under this new version of health care, would I have been able to see my surgeon as fast as I did or would it have been many more months until I could, or would it mean I would have had to gone with a lesser one.....

Funny story; we recommended the orthopedic surgeon who fixed my leg to a family friend on Wednesday; they called them early Thursday morning and were told they could come in that day or the day after, or Saturday morning for that matter.

I should add that we only have to pay $212 out of pocket.

For the post-op hospital stay?

Surgery, no hospital stay was needed. I was out and dragged home a few hours after surgery. :)

ah, I see. We paid roughly that same amount for the post op hospital stay; insurance (both ours and his) paid for everything else :D

Yay. Get to go negotiate with our bitching neighbor for my neighborhood board. SURE glad I am the VP. :(

what's he whining about?

The association by laws not being enforced

If you need a guy to do a thing I know a guy who does things.

Not that you would need that service Don Sean DeMN.
