I spent the other night cleaning the BGE. I haven't had the Egg get as hot as I'm used to recently and needed to open up the vent wider. I can normally get in the 700+ temps in 10 min or so, but I couldn't get past 500 without my home made FI kit, and even then it wasn't stable.

The lower fire holding ring had so much ash spill out of the edges it was blocking airflow. Never took it apart for a total cleaning in the few years I've had it. Just scrape out ash, never thinking about the lower fire ring leaking ash between the wall and itself. I can't wait to get some more scalops and bacon and put them on the grill now!
