I can spend $15K and have something that will run circles around any super car. . . It's still ugly to me.

We think alike, although you might have a harder time with $15k than my $30k if it is all aspects of driving. Surely can be done though. I just chose the route where I could use the stock tires, suspension, and pretty much everything else.

Sourcing parts is EASY, except the radiator they need. But I'll think of something.

After seeing the vid I'm SOLD on this stuff.

A plank of Cu makes the best radiator you could need.

I'm sold on LED in general, but HID is easier to get in warmer color.

And looks like a fwd turd. Sure I am all for fast, but a car should stir the soul in that price range as well. If the only goal is to run circles around the ZR-1, but a 3 yr old Elise for $25k and spend $5k on some forced induction and you'll kill them both.

I can't fit in an elise. It may as well not have a windsheild as I would still have to put on gogles.

The problem occurs when people just put HID bulbs in halogen cases, they need projectors in order to not blind people

But even projectors can blind people if they aren't aimed right.

Much less than a bright halogen I would guess. It would also last longer and be more cold tolerent. Bright LED's would like the cold, you could probably get away with quite a bit less heat sinking.

Baja designs makes a 10 LED light bar and it is sold with lots of lumens for only 42 wats.

I would guess that you could make better. In fact if you use bigger/better reflectors you could get MUCH more throw/lumen. I'm almost 100% sure they are using cheep chinease low quality reflectors. If you threw in some larger parabola reflectors on them and squeezed more effective light from each LED you could do SO much more. If you stepped up to SSt LED's... mMMMmmmmm

some flashlights are getting 1000 lumens from one SST-50 LED. And thats in a small overheat prone package with a limited power supply. If they put that driver tech into a vehicle aplication.

Think what you could do with proper 6-9 inch deep reflectors.

LED's also won't go down from vibration. Even HID has vibration/impact limits.

solid state lighting is are sturdy as the case you put it in.

when you take into account the overal lux you can get from even 3-4 properly set up LED's it's pretty amazing.

HID or carbon arc sources can obliterate an LED in absolute brightness though if you have tons of powa to throw at them.

Phillips Silver Stars are the only thing I am currently comfortable with pointing him to.

I will add that unlike other asshats who want to do this I understand his motivation. He wants his baby daughter to be seen more. Bright shit will do that.

I HATE people with extremely bright headlights (The HID's).. especially on raised trucks... My car is low so i get these assholes headlights straight in my face and i hate it.. even when my windows are tinted at 20%

Same here. My last Mustang was the worst as it was so low, I was even in direct line with several normal vehicles.

It's even worse when they also have fog lights.

I use the brightest I can find on my Expy. I also however use yellowish tinted lights. You can look directly at the lights on my truck and even though they are bright they don't cause pail like the cooler blue lights. I really want HID off road lights, and I NEED new headlights as mine look like milk now. I won't change though unless I can get a warmer light though.

Eff HID, go LED Light bar. That's my next project. I don't want to spend $1k on a 40 inch light bar...plus I'll be able to build any width I want, any intensity, pattern etc etc. Probably won't look as nice but should perform close.

Depends on LED number and power.

For a 10-inch wide one you are looking at 20 led's and 1 or 3w / led. So 20-60w

You should have seem my lights on stock wiring...not much off from those.

especially with the mega bright LED's. Most are blue or super white. Have you ever shined a super white bright high lux light into snow?

It's like a billion lasers sparkling at you.

you could use a verry subtle tint to the lens?

It would cost some lumens, but might be worth it. You never know untill it's in practice and in use.

Okay, fine. You will fit in a Noble which may be similar money, but is WAY more of a car for those goals.

I wouldn't mind an m600 in the stable. I think those are ~300k.
