Random question for the guys who cook with lump coal.

What brand do you use and why?

I recently tried the Cowboy lump from Lowes and half of it was just dark brown wood and needless to say is sucks, but I needed it in a pinch and for $5 I got what I paid for.

So far the best lump I have used is the BGE brand.

I use wicked good because its the best one locally available

Where do you find it? I do read the naked whiz occasionally

Eden Prairie Appliance carries it, 2 years ago the Wedge/Lakewinds coops did as well

Anyone have any free video edit software recommendations? I just need to cut out a section of a video...

Not sure of any free applications. Do you need it for future use or one time deal? If it's just for a month or so, you could download trials of Sony Vegas or Adobe Audition.

Hell Windows Movie Maker may work if your just trimming.

Just once, but its for a paper/presenation I am giving. I really just want to "speed it up" so it takes 5 seconds instead of 19.

You can do that with the windows movie player that comes standard on windows 7. I've never done it, but seen it done.

Love the desk Teo.

But whats up with the hard drives being tilted.

I don't know if you can see it, but they are floating in the air attached only with zip ties. Way less vibrations transferred to the case-less noise.

Great idea and good work on the desk :)

IMO, keeping the case down would also reduce a bit of the noise, because it's not there at head level.

I've thought about it, but I like my case on top, since I'll be doing a badass case mod too. If it was just going to be that ugly chassis I would definitely leave it down.

Already noticing some bad vibrations transferred from the case to the desk. I had removed the stuff I've put under the case for some isolation, just for the pic.

I have the ultimate quiet pc. Monitor/keyboard etc in kitchen, PC in basement below the floor.

You could not hear mine when it was on the floor either. ;)

When you get your ear close to the case the loudest thing is the HDD's needle ticking inside.

Sometimes the music one brings me back to some sweaty building chasing disco biscuits with mountains of good looking women everywhere.

Lol

Funny how music does that.

Interesting, I find that noise loud....

Not that I don't have "quiet" drives, but my house is definitely quiet. You can easily hear my 22dBA fans as well.

My are quiet, that's why you need to get your ear close. :P

My house is quiet too, you can easily hear my wrist clock ticking if set next to the monitor. Or at least with my, I don't know what you call it... trained/sensitive hearing.

I am going to be a little sore tomorrow. Just for the shiggles of it, I wanted to get a rough grip on my approximate max. Well, at least 4 rep max.

I am getting ready to go buy some, I will ask to see if they can get wicked in.

Call and ask what their options are. They might have something even better.

I just got back and they can get anything Royal Oak makes. They are checking on Wicked and will call me when they know.

335, but it was not a clean set, so it does not count in my eyes. My daily training, (not sure if you had looked at the topic or not), is not even remotely at all for power. It is all high rep, 4+ sets, short rest, high pace, with some cardio sprinkled in. So to do 1RM stuff is silly, but mostly a curiosity at this point. It would be nice to just be back at a comfortable spot with 120/125 dumb bells for chest press. At the moment, I am a little behind that at 105/110's for working sets. I have some work to do.

That is more than I have ever benched! The heaviest I have ever pushed was 310 for 8-10 reps. I have goofy/bad shoulders and at the time I had no one who I would let lift off and spot me. I weighed 260ish at the time though so its even a bit more pathetic. It feels like every pound over 300 is 10 pounds. It took longer to go from 305 to 310 than it did 285 to 300.

You should be proud as Hell of that number. I would be and I'm probably more than 2 of you in mass!

I was failing at 6 reps for 2 months or so with 310 until I could get into the 8+ range.

Breaking past 6 reps at 1200 took even longer on the sled. When I was younger. I'm definitely Kellie of you abilities Aaron!

Thanks. I don't want to switch back to training for mass or power, but now I have a little bit of the itch. I have leaned down to 206, and want to keep going, so I would hate to go against that progress. There are a few guys smaller then me (who are all going harder at it then I am and are all wrapped up everyday and I am not) that are peaking at 385ish. That little stinker of a notion called competitive nature gets me a little. :P
