What is every bodies opinion on this TV?

http://shop.panasoni...model/TC-L42U30

Not the best black levels (still okay, but definitely worse than some others), but excellent colours. Great for daytime viewing, wouldn't recommend it if it's going to be used primarily in the dark. Better off with a MVA/PVA LCD panel or a Plasma in that case, IMO.

Any recommendations in the 600 dollar range? I've looked at a Samsung LN40D630 http://www.samsung.c.../LN40D630M3FXZA but at $650 its starting to stretch the budget a little bit. But if its worlds better I can spare the fifty bucks I guess.

When you are talking panel size of 46" or smaller there are not many "junk" tv's out there. It really comes down to what you plan on doing with the tv. If you are viewing tv under normal conditions your first pick will be fine. If you are looking toward theater that is another story.

It will be mainly normal viewing but will also use it as a monitor and htpc functions.

Then either one will work fine. My personal preference would be the panny, but I am not a sammy fan though.

Thank you, I have looked at sony's also but they keep changing their lineup and the one I liked is getting hard to get they are also on the more expensive side. Guess its time to go to the store again and look at the pictures.ehh.gif

When is comes to LCD Sony is my choice, HX and XBR are the Sony lines to look at.

It has some issues with the motion smoothing and the colour out of the box is ridiculously overblown (my dad has the 46" model), but once you fix those in the settings, it's a great TV.

Out of the box almost all tv's are set up for the "wow" factor. It is best to take the time to set any tv up for your style of viewing.

Wasn't one of those lines, it was a EX500.

What was the price point?

Was nice to see the Niners win again. Looks like I may have to dust off my gear.

Before there was the Raven's (1983-1996), I rooted for the 49'ers, as there was something about the Redskins that I just did not fall in love with as a fan though I did follow them.

I grew up watching Montana and Young with Jerry, so I was a big fan. As I got older, I tired of NFL, so I don't really watch anymore aside from the playoffs. I was rooting for them tonight though. Would be awesome to see the brothers in the bowl together.

That is the most pricey one at $680, that I found right now. I'd like to keep it around $600 or less.

I would not spend that much for that line. Did you check sams club or costco?

Yeah, I can look at TVs all day, and I have, and not distinguish a single difference between any of them.

With a good signal it is hard to see the differences until you get into the larger screens 55" and up. That is where you will notice flaws.

Thats kinda where I'm at. I've looked at them in the stores and have liked the Panasonic I linked earlier and the Sony, but stores can fudge the picture to make you lean toward one model or the other.

Just did and didn't see any of them they have a BX421 Sony and it looks like they lean heavier toward pushing Vizio and Philips and they have more of those models then anything else.

I love my Samsung and I will buy Samsung again in the future.

That is why I have looked a Samsung, I have a computer monitor of theirs and like it has been going strong for years, parents have a older LCD of theirs and its pretty good. Also the same reason I won't really look at an LG, had a phone of theirs and wasn't a good experience.

At the right price they are both decent tvs.

I hate looking for TVs. suicide-santa.gif

I've been looking on and off for quite awhile now, just started up because of the super bowl and the TVs usually go down in price around this time. Thanks for the link I'll get to reading it.

With all the shared technology coming in tvs, the only thing to set them apart will be cosmetic differences.

If anybody is wanting plasma, Panny is bringing some good panels this year. I was told even better than the VT panels.

But it's still plasma :P

3 racks of ribs rubbed and ready for the egg tomorrow. :)

Anybody coming over?

But it's still plasma :P

Is there something you do not like?

They will go on around 9am and be ready to eat around 4pm along with a loin. :)

This new building and LNI is going to be the death of me, I swear! I don't bitch about much, but these new building codes are bullshit! I know why many mom and pops go out of business.
