Have you driven the Edge yet? My mom had one and my sister and her husband both have one, and I can's stand driving them. The damn nose cuts so sharply, I could never get used to exactly where that front end was. It's not much bigger than the Escape inside either, and even worse, the Explorer is only slightly larger than the Edge inside.

my wife had an edge for a rental for work on time and she really liked it. the cargo area seemed quite a bit bigger than our older escape. diaper bag, stroller, case of water, and no room for a costco run in the escape. my wife dosent like the explorer. im more of a chevy guy growing up so i wanted her to get the traverse. but she likes her little ford. the Flex is funky but rather large inside.

They've done it before and then gas became cheap again and it was not an issue, so they went back to their roots. THe Explorer with EcoBoost is only available in FWD. That's about all I know. My mom only gets AWD, so she never bothered with the EcoBoost. My BIL has a 2011 F-150 with the EcoBoost though and it's pretty nice. He gets around 28 and he drives crazy. It's got plenty of power too, but nothing that will blow your mind in a big truck.

I will say the deals on new fords right now beat out any 8k discount on chevy products. im in the market for a new truck as well and you just might see me driving a new f250.

i really just want a f150/chevy 1500 but i kinda need a long bed and a crewcab... not available in a half ton.

a loaded Edge is around 31k, we didnt look at prices on the flex. that would be my choice from ford.

the owner and project manager at my work both just bought '12 f150s. the deals are great. so nice inside. i get a $500/month truck allowance and a amex for gas, so most of my payment is paid but i still want the best deal. ford/chevy.

8' bed and a crew cab? That is a big truck, a ext. cab and 8' bed is as long as I care to drive.

Just don't buy a Ram. I am a Ford man, and I won't touch GM after the bailout shit, but it's better than Chrysler.

You need a bigger truck. You had better have trailer brakes too....

8' bed and a crewcab is what i need. i have a family and i need a large truck for work. (construction) wont fit in the garage but i have a big drivway.

If you get one and want to do engine work, talk to me first. You are going about it the wrong ($$$$$$) way. I can save you a ton of money and weight.

Not looking for an asston of power, just maybe about 330-360 HP peak with a decent torque curve. Plenty of power for me and it wouldn't require a performance rebuild of the 4R70W, although a shift kit/J-mod might be in the cards. Maybe trans/engine coolers as well, but I don't think those would be necessary either.

I wanted to do a small write-up on a local forum as to why square signals carry more power than the same amplitude as sine-wave signals but can't remember how to work with integrals....so it's time to go back to my notebooks from high-school. It's amazing how easily you forget something you don't use :(

What do you have to do with integrals? Evaluate between two points?

Are you evaluating an integral for a sine function, finding the area between two points. Then evaluating an integral for the square (clipped) signal, finding the area between two points, then comparing the difference?

I think a square wave is around 41% more power then a sine wave?

sine wave rms = peak*0.707

square wave rms = peak, or 1.414*sinewaverms

Assuming of course, their amplitude is the same.

You are correct on that. I just wanted to re-do the math behind it. 0.707 is plenty for showing what happens.

Basically I need to find out the area under the sine wave graph between 0 and PI and the sine wave is A*sin(wt). Damn memory, I can't do any integral :lol:

And honestly, if it doesn't have a distributor I'm really not all that knowledgeable so I'll take all the help I can get.

Decent amount of cam overlap for a loping idle wouldn't be bad either. :D

You can pull out A when you find the anti derivative, then multiply the anti derivative by A.

-cos(wt)/w + c would be the anti derived of sin(wt)

Then throw the A back in:

-Acos(wt)/w +c

Now evaluate from [0,π]

-Acos(wπ)/w + Acos(w0)/w

Assuming t is the input.
